Mariska Hargitay and Sam Waterson are back in business alongside Anthony Anderson, Kelli Giddish, and some new faces in the “Law & Order” reboot set to premier on NBC on February 24.
After being off air for over a decade, the series is back like it never left. “Really not much newness at all,” Anderson admitted in a red carpet interview on Feb. 15. Anderson reprises his role as Detective Kevin Bernard, a role he was able to ease back into despite the numerous characters he played over the years; including Andre Johnson in eight seasons of ABC’s Blackish. “Stepping back into this character and on the show is like sitting in a well worn saddle. It just grips you just right,” he said. Christopher Meloni, who’s known for his role as Detective Elliott Stabler, shared the same sentiments when he describes resuming the show as, “shockingly seamless.” Since Dick Wolf is still calling the shots as head of the series and Wolf Entertainment, this isn’t too surprising; especially since Law & Order is the longest-running drama series in the history of television with 20 seasons.
As for new faces, fans should expect to see a lot of BET’s “Rebel” actor, Danielle Moné Truitt as the no-joke Sergeant Ayanna Bell in “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” English actor Hugh Dancy as “Law & Order’s” ADA Nolan Price, NBC’s “Mightnight, Texas”actor Odelya Halevi as ADA Samantha Chapman, and more.
The revival kicks off at 8 p.m. with an episode titled, “The Right Thing.”
