The CONS AS-1 Pro sneaker debuts globally on May 2, 2023.
Converse is known for celebrating the authentic perspective of athletes and artists.. Who better to launch their own footwear design with the brand than professional skateboarder, multifaceted artist, and architect Alexis Sablone.
The AS-1 Pro takes inspiration from Converse basketball and court silhouettes of the 80s with a newly engineered coring that enables increased impact cushioning and optimized board feel according to the retailer. The silhouette features a CX foam sockliner for cushioning, and with adjustment to the height of the rubber on the laterals, the AS -1 Pro can handle the demands of all types of riders.

Converse combined Sablone’s passion for sports and art with a celebration of the AS-1 Pro launch at the Guggenheim Museum on Tuesday. The event began with a special preview of the shoe. Sablone explained briefly that aspects such as comfort and performance expansion went into the sleek design. A green ramp made the perfect installation for the AS-1 Pro display. The display additionally featured early sketches Sablone created for the design.
The event continued with the premiere of the short documentary “AS-1″ from “All the Streets are Silent” director, Jeremy Elkin. The documentary reflects Sablone’s journey in the skateboarding world and the influence of art on her career. AS-1 features footage of Sablone skating the Guggenheim Museum—making her the first athlete to do so.

Following the premiere, the celebration continued with performances from DJs Venus X and Dede Lovelace.
Sablone is a perfect addition to the Converse family as she continues to inspire many with her talents. This collaboration between Sablone and Converse is a true testament to the brand’s authenticity and support of the sports and art realms.
The AS-1 Pro will expand its colorways in June across the Globe, and the documentary following Alexis is available to watch now.
