The event featured a roster of the best up-and-coming talent at the record label.
Atlantic Records held their “She’s On Deck: Summer Kickoff” showcase to a virtual audience last Wednesday. The event features female performers signed to the record label who are on the path to stardom. Brynn Elliott, Catie Turner, Jax, May-A, and Sara Kays all performed some of their hit songs and songs not officially released yet. The event drew in a number of fans excited to hear from some of the freshest female artists right now.
Singer-songwriter Brynn Elliott is fresh off the release of her new songs “Letter To A Girl” and “Tell Me I’m Pretty,” which is now receiving radio play across the country. The song & her forthcoming EP infuse vibrant pop with a focus on identity, self-image, and finding one’s place in the world. “Tell Me I’m Pretty” and “Letter To A Girl” herald Brynn’s breathtaking new EP, CAN I BE REAL? due to arrive later this year. CAN I BE REAL? sees Brynn expanding on the thoughtful yet emotionally potent lyricism of her 2018 debut EP, TIME OF OUR LIVES. TIME OF OUR LIVES proved a breakthrough debut for the Atlanta-born, Los Angeles-based Elliott upon its 2018 release, highlighted by the top 15 Hot AC single, “Might Not Like Me,” – which has earned over 43 million global streams thus far.
Beloved for her potent, personal lyricism and soulful vocals, Catie Turner is a uniquely gifted singer and writer whose offbeat charm and tongue-in-cheek songcraft has now drawn over 70 million global streams and counting. Catie first began writing songs and playing guitar in her hometown of Langhorne, PA, providing her a means to cope with the myriad pressures placed upon young women. 2019 brought her remarkable solo debut EP, THE SAD VEGAN, highlighted by the moving pop anthem “Prom Queen” which exploded across all platforms, was named one of TIME’s“5 Songs You Need To Listen To This Week,” and landed Catie a spot on Idolator’s “On The Verge: 40 Artists To Watch In 2020.” Recently, Catie has released an impressive string of singles including the experimental pop earworm, “Hide & Seek,” the anthemic “Play God,” the beautiful, down-to-earth “One Day,” and the touching ode to her mother, “Mama.”
Raised in New Jersey by way of New York, Jax got her start by performing a wide variety of genres and in bands growing up. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, she turned to TikTok, posting a hilarious response to the pop gem “Stacy’s Mom” from “Stacy’s Mom’s Perspective” which exploded with nearly 9 million views in just a few months and “Update from Avril Lavigne & Sk8er Boi 18 years later” which became her most successful parody to date with over 14.5 million views. She continued to go viral a dozen or more times over, now having amassed over 2.5 million followers on the platform and 40 million “likes.” With a massive online audience under her belt, Jax began sharing her own original music in late 2020 to an overwhelmingly positive response – including her Atlantic Records debut single “Ring Pop” which yielded high-profile appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Access Hollywood & more. Meanwhile, her follow-up single “90s Kids” brings the ultimate nostalgia and has amassed over 8 million global streams since its release
Rising 19-year-old pop wunderkind, MAY-A broke onto the scene with her singles “Apricots” and “Time I Love To Waste” late last year, chronicling the story of a blossoming relationship with the catchiest pop hooks, intoxicating lyrics and showing MAY-A wholeheartedly embracing her sexuality whilst falling deeper and deeper in love for the first time. MAY-A has been quickly growing a loyal fanbase both at home in Australia and abroad, amassing over 250K YouTube subscribers, tens of millions of streams, a support slot for Wafia, and the #1 played track from Australia’s tastemaker radio station triple j, as well as early champions at Variety, NME, Billboard, Ones To Watch, American Songwriter, Alt Press and more.
As if setting her diary to music, the Nashville-based singer-songwriter, talented guitarist, and ukulele player, Sara Kays, creates refreshingly honest alternative pop with her relatable storytelling. Kays’ poetic brand of pop which she writes and records all on her own, has earned her more than 1.6M TikTok followers, a growing audience that feels more like a supportive community. Celebrating the breakout success of her viral anthem, “Remember That Night?” which is currently impacting Top 40 radio with over 150M global streams, Kays recently made her U.S. television debut with a performance of the song on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
