Olivia Rodrigo Partners With Sony to Take Over The NYC Subway

Last week, New York based Olivia Rodrigo fans had the unique opportunity to take a ride on the O Line, a decked out, Olivia themed subway experience celebrating her collaboration with Sony LinkBuds and the MTA.

On the kickoff night, Olivia made an appearance at the event, coming down the subway stairs to Obsessed playing in the background. “Hi guys, thank you so much for coming!” she said. “This is so fun. I’m so happy that my LinkBuds are out in the world, I love them so much. I think they’re so cute, and I love playing music in them.”

Any Olivia fan knows that immersive is practically in her name. Everything the artist does is perfectly curated to her personality and fans alike, and this collaboration and event were no exception. NYC’s Bowery station was completely transformed into a purple paradise, and no detail was spared. Every sign was transformed with signature Olivia details, and the concession stands were filled with the singer’s signature merchandise. Downstairs, the main event featured an immersive experience with three different subway cars, each with a variety of interactive activities. In one, fans could pose for pictures with a variety of Olivia themed props. The car featured a huge mirror at the far end, ideal for mirror selfies (and a feature that I feel could greatly improve all subways) and was completely decked out with butterflies, purple paraphernalia, lyrics, and so much more. Each stop on the subway was a different Olivia song title, leaving it up to riders weather they want to have a mellow day at Lacy avenue, or a revved up one at All American B*tch Road.

The second car was even more immersive. When fans got on, they were met with a station where they could try out LinkBuds x Olivia Rodrigo, which includes 2 custom EQs tuned by Olivia and her producer for optimal listening to her albums GUTS and SOUR on the music streaming service of your choice, allowing listeners to truly listen like Olivia. While listening, guests had their portraits drawn by a subway sketch artist, adding an adorable keepsake to the experience. The final car featured Olivia’s iconic Obsessed sashes for attendees to grab from the ceiling, as well as a tarot card reader. Outside on the platform, a DJ played Olivia’s songs accompanied by a stunning violin set as projections from music videos decorated the walls.

Last month, certain subways got a lot more chic with the addition of Olivia’s brand new Listen Like Olivia Sony Linkbuds ad campaign, which riders could access via their limited edition Olivia Rodrigo metrocards. The latter was unveiled as the MTA’s last physical MetroCard partnership before phasing the cards out and switching to OMNY. The gorgeous cards featured a photo of Olivia on one side and her signature purple on the other.

Attendees also left with an adorable tote bag featuring gifts like a poster, candy, a beanie, and of course, the signature MetroCard.

This truly was a can’t miss event. Find out more about Olivia Rodrigo’s partnership with Sony LinkBuds here!
