Cinq à Sept had their Fall/Winter 2017 Presentation last week at Le Coucou, the romantic Lower East Side hotspot.
Cinq à Sept’s new collection was described as “90’s grunge meets 40’s femme” by the French-inspired brand. The collection was full of feminine, classic silhouettes in pastel colors mixed with unexpected twists, such as fishnets, grungy patched jackets, and rocker chic crop tops. The beauty look for the show was created by Glamsquad’s Giovanni Vaccaro – natural, sexy hair with just rolled out of bed texture. Below, we chat with him about how to recreate the look at home.
The Knockturnal: Tell us the inspiration behind the look – did you see the clothes first?
Giovanni Vaccaro: Yes, we met with the Cinq à Sept team on [two days ago] and saw how gorgeous the clothing was, and really developed the inspiration from there. This is beautiful, chic, and sexy…The inspiration is embracing the natural beauty of the woman and of the texture. We’re going to keep the texture of the hair, and with the longer hair that’s straighter, we did a center part and kept the hair a bit more diffused and airy.
The Knockturnal: Can you recommend any products that enhance the hair types, but not make it look messy?
GV: We went a different route with the product and not used the salt spray, which gives the hair a gritty feel to it. We wanted it smoother and natural, rather than crunchy, and so what we used today was the Nectar Thermique from Keratase. We applied it to dry hair, section by section – and we also used the Baxter Cream Pomade, applied it through, and it really gives [the hair] a lived in texture without looking wet or crunchy.
