A few of the best and brightest in hip-hop and fashion rolled out to Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace earlier this Fashion Week to celebrate the ultimate collaboration: Flipper’s x Adidas Superstar!

Flipper’s may have only opened in April 2022, but has quickly gained the rep of being one of the best outdoor roller skating rinks located in New York City. In partnering with Adidas and Rockefeller Center, the venue features a beautiful 15,000-square-foot rink, a DJ booth, and a bar.

Prepped for the occasion, the Flipper’s rink was illuminated against the night sky and featured multiple encased classic Addidas sneakers and other brand memorabilia.

Guests entered the highly-established roller-skating rink stationed at the iconic Rockefeller Center in Manhattan on Monday night, ready to lace up and hit the floor. Those opting to cruise on the sidelines were able to grab a signature cocktail made with either CÎROC Ultra-Premium Vodka, Tanqueray Gin, Tequila Don Julio, or opt or must-have mocktail, Seedlip (a non-Alcoholic Spirit).

Between sips as well as a bite or two of savory gourmet fries or a tasty ice-cream sandwich, guests could mingle and marvel at displays of the iconic Superstar Adidas sneaker.

For those not in the know, Adidas is a well-established brand with a long and rich history. Founded in 1949 by Adolf “Adi” Dassler, this monumental sneaker brand has been at the forefront of the sportswear industry ever since and plays a huge role in hip-hop culture.

One of the most famous examples of Adidas’ influence on hip-hop culture is the song “My Adidas” by Run-DMC. The song, released in 1986, was a tribute to the Adidas Superstar sneaker, a popular choice among hip-hop artists at the time. The song’s success helped solidify Adidas’ place in hip-hop culture and is still considered a classic today.

In short, what better brand to showcase some of its classic collection, during the 50th anniversary of hip hop no less?

As to be expected, a few familiar faces in hip hop came out to Flippers to pay homage to the legacy of the Adidas Originals Superstar, donned in the best of the brand. The star-studded guestlist included the likes of David Iacono, Dylan Mulvaney, Harvey Guillén, Indi Star, Jimmy Iovine, Meek Mill, Myles Frost, Nick Cannon, NLE Choppa, Quincy Brown, Saweetie, Sheinelle Jones, The Kid Laroi, Yaya DaCosta, YG and many more.

Lucky fans of both the Adiddas brand and hip hop even got to catch a glimpse of Meek Mill making his way around the rink in a custom pair of skates.

Other guests were able to practice their skating skills while cruising around to the sounds of DJ T.J. Mizell and DJ Quiana Parks.

For those who may now have gotten to skate the night away – don’t fret! You can pay a visit to Flipper’s and try your hand at roller skating and experience the magic yourself!
