Nicholas K presented their Spring 2017 collection in New York this week, inspired by the movie “Theeb” about a Bedouin boy tasked with leading a British officer through the unforgiving Wadi Rum desert.
The looks themselves appear to be what one would expect after reading the designers’ hand out. Fluidly draped garments appeared in shades of creme, tan, military green, beige, and brown, styled with oversized sun hats and visors.
The real kicker was in their sourcing technique. As a brand, Nicholas K as well as many other designers registered with the CFDA has made a pledge of sustainability. To promote sustainability this season, organic textiles were used as well as non-chemically dyed leathers. Oversized tear drop shaped necklaces graced the collection every once and a while crafted by New York based company “Linhardt”, known for their “innovative design and socially responsible practices”.
