It was a night to remember.
On November 16, New York Public Radio held its annual Gala at New York City’s iconic Plaza Hotel. The night honored two-time Peabody Award-winning podcast Radiolab and for the first time ever the event was held both in-person and virtually for audiences and fans around the world.

Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress Julianna Margulies hosted the event, which featured musical performances by acclaimed singer-songwriter Kishi Bashi and musicians from the WQXR Artist Propulsion Lab. Presenters included This American Life host Ira Glass, NYPR President and CEO Goli Sheikholeslami, and NYPR Board of Trustees Chair Tim Wilkins.Radiolab hosts Jad Abumrad, Lulu Miller, and Latif Nasser accepted an award honoring the show’s 20 years of work and joined in a toast to retired Radiolab co-host Robert Krulwich. The program also included musical performances from Kishi Bashi and a special performance of original Radiolab scores by members of WQXR’s Artist Propulsion Lab, WQXR’s program to support mid-career musicians and performers during the pandemic.

NYPR’s annual gala is its largest fundraising event of the year—celebrating the vital and illuminating work produced across New York Public Radio and the generous supporters who make it all possible. Past Gala performers and hosts include Aidy Bryant, John Turturro, Hilary Hahn, Audra McDonald, Wynton Marsalis, Cynthia Nixon, Renee Fleming, and Brian Stokes Mitchell.
