We’re kicking off the first NMR of 2021 with fresh, new tunes from Hologramme, Boku, Jerro, Andrew Pololos, and more.
ANDREW POLOLOS – ALL FOR YOU FT. NAIDA [AQUARIUS RECORDS]
Fast-rising talent Andrew Pololos returns to the release radar with the third and final single from his forthcoming album Until We Dance. Pololos doesn’t skip a beat on his new single, as Naida’s lush vocals and his rhythmic flair immediately take the stage. Meshing several dance music genres, ‘All For You’ is pushed forward with Afro, Tech, and Club House sensibilities gleaming throughout the track. Naida lends her R&B flair to the track with her vocals gracefully complementing the lively drum-brimming production. The track is destined to become a staple in any after-party setlist, keeping the energy high throughout the early morning hours. The Montreal DJ and producer’s versatile studio prowess is undeniable as he blends an array of instrumentals into a cohesive sonic package.
HOLOGRAMME – DREAM [SOCIÉTÉ HOLOGRAPHIQUE DE MONTRÉAL]
Another Montrealite, Hologramme, welcomes listeners to 2021 with his first single and music video of the new year. His latest single expands on both his electronica and atmospherically driven sound with the accompanying music video directed by Alexis Belhumeur, setting the release apart from his previous works. Incorporating a gritty, stylized and spirited human storyline on Montréal’s alternative youth culture with strong art direction, “DREAM” is an illustrative detour from his previously visually centered clips, further setting the tone for new and exciting applications for his productions. Contemplative and euphoric, the song delivers the warm nostalgia Hologramme has become known for, though “DREAM” sees the artist take us under neon lights with a strong and anthemic chorus, mixed with power, strength and ferocity which flows into this anthemic and unifying tale.
BOKU – FORTUNE [FEEL GOOD LOST]
Having initially cut his teeth in the dance realm with his first pop band, Young Wonder, the Cork native has gathered his electronic sounds and turned inwards. Sharing bittersweet introspection with the world via downtempo music, Boku projects a certain warmth through his synth manipulation and vocal chop laden productions. ‘Fortune’ is a masterclass in subtle builds matched with yearning percussive elements, creating an atmosphere all its own. Pulling influences from his own work with internationally renowned artists, Talos and Daithí, Boku manages to package a glimmer of hope in song amid the backdrop of a desolate world. The single marks the first of a set of three releases to come this January, forming a cohesive EP, slated to hit streaming services on January 27th.
BRUER – NASTY
A genre-defying talent transcending the typical confines of electronic music, BRUER pushes boundaries. Excelling in bass driven, high-energy, melodic feats, BRUER proves himself as quite the jack-of-all-trades. Now, gearing up to release his debut EP Mind Flay, BRUER debuts “Nasty,” a heavy-hitting bass boosted display of raw talent. Burgeoning with frenetic bass work, “Nasty” is BRUER at his artistic best. Featuring heavy 808s and nefarious percussive elements from its onset, “Nasty” casts a captivating spell on eager listeners. Textural bass and wonky harmonies best characterize this prime piece of production prowess, as BRUER flexes his hand at neck-breaking, mainstage bass sound. A sonic display of what is yet to come from BRUER, “Nasty” is a bright treat ahead of his debut EP, Mind Flay, available Thursday, January 28.
JERRO – GO BACK NOW FT. BEACON [ANJUNADEEP]
Following his most successful year to-date, Belgian producer Jerro returns to the release radar with a breathtaking new single ‘Go Back Now’ featuring the vocal talent of Beacon. The latest offering from the rising talent serves as an exquisite follow up to his Anjunadeep debut single ‘Tunnel Vision’ last year. With a handful of exciting releases to come, Jerro’s sharp trajectory in the electronic music realm shows no signs of slowing in the new year. The track softly opens with a dreamlike atmosphere before Beacon’s enchanting vocals flood the soundscape. The driving progressive melody takes the listener on a euphoric sonic journey throughout the duration of the track as it escalates with vivacious energy.
JAXX DA FISHWORKS – 100 PERCENT EP [NIGHT BASS]
Revered bass house producer, JAXX DA FISHWORKS is ringing in the new year with a highly-anticipated, groundbreaking EP, ‘100 Percent’. The titular track kicks off the EP, and prominently features a consistently propulsive rhythm alongside a driving, four-on-the-floor beat. A flowing, commanding vocal accompanies the propelling production elements, and effortlessly maintains the tune’s immensely high energy from start to finish. ‘In My House’ rounds out the release, and audibly champions the same hard-hitting tone its predecessor possesses. Rife with wobbly bass and a heady, textured vocal, the nearly four-minute musical endeavor relentlessly thrusts the listener through a bouncy journey of sound that’s both wholly assertive and extremely fun.
