Bucks is a rising and New York Native Rapper, who collaborated with the Grammy award winning producer, Hitmaka, to produce his debut album, Blessed to the Max. I had the pleasure of attending his private listening party at The Cutting Room studios and might I say, his album is phenomenal.
Neek Bucks has made himself a predominant part of the Rap scene by being featured on and collaborating with some of the greats, such as 2 Chainz, Wiz Khalifa, Cee-lo Green, Benny the Butcher and more. He has received so much positive feedback and excitement from his growing fan base, that his album, dropping on February 17th will truly sky rocket his career. Observing Neek Bucks and those close to him, I can tell he has a very tight net family, with those who look up to and fully support his music in the most positive light. While snagging an interview with him after the listening segment, he is very shy & humble, yet confident and proud. Neek has this aura about him, that commands attention, he has a story to share and wants the world to listen. When asked “who is Neek Bucks?” He answered boldly with “ I’m Neek bucks from Harlem, East side to be exact, father, great person, humble, super talented, that’s me” – Neek Bucks. The hustle and drive that he has flowing through his blood is inspiring, especially those who are from New York and Harlem to viewing him shouting out his neighborhood loud and proud and giving back to those to be proud of where they came from. Now that he is one of the hottest up and coming rappers on the scene, it could be hard to balance his private life and fame, when asked how does he balance the two he answered “I kinda have a personality that fits everything, my personal life and my music life, I’m able to combine the two because I’m on my way. When the camera cuts on I’m me, when the camera cuts off I’m me, so its like it works, that’s why its good to be yourself. “ – Neek bucks. He also is in it to win it for his daughter as well, that he owed his success to, his 4 year old that makes him go hard everyday, which is so beautiful. Now that we know a little bit about Neek Bucks personal life, lets get into the music.
Once everyone was acquainted, we were escorted into the studio where Neek began to thank everyone for coming and introducing his album. “ We’ve been recording this project for the last year, you know Goodie brought me together and as soon as we got together its been nonstop work, we had fun making this, we were able to travel, go different places, see the world, and do this project at the same time. I’ve been doing this music this for a long time, like everybody said I’ve been around for 6 years, and everybody I’ve been around I’ve been able to affect, the big homies in the game, the OG’s, the youngins, everybody. People never gave me the help that they should have gave me because I already seemed so established, because it just always looked like I had it figured out, but you know now I have people who really stepped up for me and I’ve forever appreciative of being given a chance to change my life. So this is my album, Blessed to the Max, the first song is called deserve it all, one of my favorite songs.”- Neek bucks stated as the song started to play over the loud speakers. What makes his songs so unique is that each song starts with a beautiful sample melody.
Neek Bucks is a very passionate musician who dedicates all his musical choices to be things that are very authentic to who he is, and that quality is shown in each and every part of his music. In some songs he was very vulnerable about his experiences that made him who he is today, every melody, every bar and hook expresses that. Neek also shared with me that he is a huge R&B fan; his love for R&B is definitely expressed in his music as well because he has such an old school charm to him. He looks up to 50 cent who is the OG for incorporating R&B into his rap style, making it soft but as you would say “hard”. He dedicated the time and effort he put into writing each song and even mentioned that he doesn’t write down any of his lyrics, they come straight from his head, to self express what he’s been holding inside. Neek Bucks is super talented and cares a lot about his career, the influence of his mucus and wants to the world to know who he is and give him a shot to be one of the greatest. I asked what is the most difficult thing about being an artist and he answered with “The most difficult thing about being an artist is reinventing yourself, being able to do new things all the time, you have to dig deep into yourself and study and watch other people and constantly reinvent. If your not willing to put in the work it wont work” He said. He definitely has the upmost potential and is actively making the strides to do so. I was beyond impressed with each and every song, I believe 10 total on the album and I’m looking forward to Blessed to the Max dropping on all streaming platforms, as I will be one of many that will add this album to my playlist instantly.
Much congratulations to Neek Bucks and stream Blessed to the Max dropping on February 17th.
