Designer Naeem Khan presented his Spring/Summer 2016 line at the Skylight at Moynihan Station on Wednesday, Sept. 16th during New York Fashion Week.
The designer, who is known for his beautiful gowns, has an extensive client list including first lady Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift, Emily Blunt, and Julia Roberts.
The S/S 16 line was inspired by the sun drenched gardens of the South of France, white walls of the Mediterranean, and the azure blue waters of Capri.
Khan’s use of pastels is thoughtful and inspiring; colors like azure blue, lemon, celadon, lilac, and rose complimented the ombre, floral embroidery, silks, and beading. The collection was full of gowns of course but also included jumpsuits, cocktail dresses, coats and capes. The attention to detail Khan exemplifies in his beading is remarkable. Khan said he was inspired by the iconic muses of the 50s and 60’s like Sophia Loren, Grace Kelly, Brigitte Bardot, and Jackie Kennedy.
Models each wore a matching head scarf respective to their look. Jewelry was provided by Ranjana Khan, who also happens to be Naeem’s wife. Make up was done by Makeup by Gato for Maybelline New York and shoes were provided by Christian Louboutin.
Kat Graham, Ashley Greene, and Christina Hendricks were sitting in the show’s front row.
