Designer Johnson Hartig and the Libertine overcame quite the dilemma this season, when UPS lost around twenty looks to be shown on the Spring Summer runway.
The line sheet presented to each attendee gave a heartfelt shoutout to each team member who rose above the challenge and “rallied” to face the problem head on. No one would have known better if it wasn’t deliberately noted in the program, as the show went on without a hitch.
Hartig’s collection this season (every season) was a refreshing hint of color, wit, and cheeky appliqués- an interesting contrast to the sea of white over many of this season’s runways. Of the twenty five women’s looks shown this season, a top fabricated of neon chain links, a boxy coat embroidered with neon varsity jacket numbers, and a pair of cheetah print draw string trousers for men dominated the collection. Of the nine men’s looks shown, a track suit featuring an all-over print of (what looks like) magnified pollen grains was an interesting addition to the line up. The collection was tied together with heels and sneakers embellished with neon chain links.
One lesson to be learned from this Spring / Summer collection is that there are no excuses in the fashion industry. With the help of a solid team, quick thinking, and a beautiful collection, a designer’s worst nightmare can quickly transform into a Libertine runway.
