The NADA New York art fair from the New Art Dealers Alliance kicked off Thursday afternoon at Pier 36/Basketball City in the Lower East Side.

The fair, dedicated to showcasing new art and to celebrating the rising talents from around the globe from international 75 galleries. Art at the fair varied from Warhols to sculpture, painting and photography from emerging artists. Also scattered through the space are 30 NADA projects, which are discrete, self-contained booths specifically, designed to highlight small-scale presentations from emerging galleries and independent organizations. Scheduled throughout the weekend are performances, conversations and events such as Thursday evening’s fashion show of a new collection from multi-disciplinary artist Cheryl Donegan in collaboration with Print All Over Me. Artist to note, Jackie Saccoccio, won the $4,000 unrestricted Artadia NADA Award giving her all lifetime benefits of the Atladia Awards program including access to Atladia’s national network and option to participate in their ongoing programs, exhibition, New York Residency and professional services.

Fair goers took breaks from perusing the art on the back terrace complete with mariachi band, sights of the East River equipped, tacos and drinks from Tacombi and perfect Spring weather. Digg In provided farm-to-table noshes and Café Dancer was on hand to help keep everyone caffeinated. If the art is out of reach of your pocketbook, you can stop by the NADA Shop to pick up NADA x PAOM artist-designed, limited edition clothing featuring artwork by two contemporary artists represented by NADA galleries, Bjorn Copeland and Daniel Heidkamp. The NADA art fair is free to the public and runs through Sunday, May 17th.  Free shuttles will run between the New Museum and NADA New York.
