Motorola leaned into nostalgia and high fashion, transforming its latest Razr launch into a full scale runway spectacle that positioned the foldable smartphone as both a style statement and a reinvention of an early 2000s icon.

Razr Studios made its debut with a one night only ‘Runway of Icons’ event that blurred the lines between product reveal and fashion show — complete with a red carpet, choreographed performances and a lineup of celebrity talent. The presentation underscored a broader shift in the tech industry — devices are no longer just tools, but extensions of personal style.

The show opened with Natalia Bryant, setting the tone for a high energy runway that fused bold textures, statement colorways and performance driven staging. The models included Baron Scho, Isan Elba, Catarina Tourinho and Carter Gregory, alongside Avan Jogia, all styled to integrate the device as part of each look.

Behind the scenes, dancers from the Millennium Dance Complex brought the runway to life through tightly choreographed sequences led by Tobias Ellehammer, giving the show a cinematic, performance driven edge.

Celebrity stylist Danyul Brown, who led the styling for the event, said the goal was to align each look with both the talent and the brand’s evolving identity. “There’s been blood, sweat, and tears put into this and it’s really about me aligning with the talent’s aesthetic and the talent’s brand and really meet in the middle with Motorola,” Brown said. Brown described the new Razr lineup as a source of creative inspiration. “This new generation of Razr’s are so inspiring and so fashion forward,” he said.

The production leaned heavily on nostalgia while reframing the Razr for a new generation, tapping into its legacy as a cultural status symbol while emphasizing reinvention.

“I think there’s always time for reinvention, even with talents and with outfits and with trends as well — so the idea that the Motorola has been reinvented and this new generation is so fashion forward, I was able to come in with a multitude of talent of whom I’m not full time stylists for and really put my stamp on it,” Brown said.

The night closed with Paris Hilton, a longtime Motorola partner whose presence tied the brand’s early 2000s cultural relevance to its current reinvention. Her finale appearance underscored the company’s message that icons don’t disappear, they evolve.

By framing the Razr as both a fashion object and a piece of technology, Motorola’s Razr Studios showcase signaled a shift in how consumer electronics are marketed — not just for function, but for identity, nostalgia and cultural impact.
