Despite the inclement weather, fashion’s best fought the cold and appeared as chic as ever at Monique Lhuillier’s front row. Linda Fargo, Jamie Chung, Ken Downing, and the new Miss Universe, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, as well as Ashley Bell and Naya Rivera were seen looking flawless.

Once the show began, the nod to the early 70s was definitely present in the outerwear shapes. The unexpected combinations, and ultra-luxurious pieces were styled with ease for a sophisticated woman that doesn’t try too hard to fit in. The fullness of the skirts in the collection made us dream of elaborate balls, bows, and precise waltz steps.

The floaty dresses with lacquer embroidery and printed jacquard fabrics continued to appeal to the always-feminine Monique Lhuillier clientele.

For the nail art featured in the collection, we spoke with Morgan Taylor Lacquer lead artist Gina Edwards. “We used Polished Up, a beautiful light dusty rose which we diluted the color with Make It Last and we followed that up with Need for Speed with is a fast drying top coat.” The color was diluted to suit the request to achieve a lighter Polished Up tone. Gina told us that the inspiration for the collection came from Talitha Getty who is a style icon so they wanted to follow the vintage vibe of the clothes for the nail color.

To offset Monique Lhuillier’s psychedelic and feminine collection, Bob Recine for Moroccanoil came up with a 70s waves with a modern twist. Here are the steps to achieve the natural look:

  • Prep damp hair with Moroccanoil Treatment and Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse.
  • Next, take a one inch section of hair and spray with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray. Wrap each section of hair in foil.
  • Once the foil is around the hair, create an S-shape and clip to the head. Use Moroccanoil Ceramic Hair Dryer to dry.
  • Once hair is dry, remove the clips and foil. Gently separate the hair to reveal a soft wave.
  • Add a dime size amount of Moroccanoil Smoothing Lotion to finish.
