“A modern juxtaposition of textures” defines Tanya Taylor’s look this season in the words of celebrity NARS makeup artist Uzo. The collection was characterized by romantic floral prints, brocade and lace that offered a beautiful pop of color and liveliness to the Swiss Institute, which offered its white walls and platforms to be decorated with fallen tree branches as props around the models.
The earthy vibe went as far as the makeup, as NARS offered a “healthy, transparent skin look” featuring soft, flushed cheeks and rose lips reminiscent of a Snow White aesthetic. As a trend this season, artists are beginning to focus heavily on looks that can be translated easily pulled from fashion presentations and reinterpreted on the street without sacrificing creative potential. Danielle Candido did exactly this using Morgan Taylor products to create a nail that simultaneously complimented the presentation and added a subtle and unique layer to the overall look. The deep red ombré to black complimented the first look on the platform, floral cobalt printed leggings with a deep red background, paired with a black A-line dress featuring the same print on a yoke around the neck.
The collection flowed smoothly into a high slit skirt in, and a deep blue brocade bomber jacket with black flowers. The theme persisted throughout the presentation, infusing draped cowl necks and slight fur accents around printed leather jackets. One outstanding piece was a rust and gold lamé sweater paired with a lamé pleated knee length skirt.
