CULT of Individuality X HVMAN held their SS’21 fashion last Thursday and set the tone for the return of live fashions for the upcoming NYFW. The event was filled with excitement, fashion, and rock and roll. Designer Ron Poisson made his runway debut for his 13-year-old, streetwear line “CULT of Individuality” and his new line “HVMAN” during men’s NYFW.
On July 22nd, long-time fans, influencers, and fashion lovers gathered at the new CULT Lab in NYC to witness Poisson’s runway debut of CULT of Individuality X HVMAN. High energy and excitement filled the room after months of lock-down and virtual fashions shows. Cult of Individuality is streetwear meets rock n’ roll while HVMAN is Poisson’s modern take on streetwear. There was not a single look from both lines that I didn’t enjoy seeing walk down the runway. Cult of Individuality has these fun pieces that are embellished and have these incredible graphics of the logo while HVMAN has more of a relaxed streetwear look. Although both brands are typically menswear they can be worn by anyone and there were even a few women’s pieces throughout the show.
Poisson describes the Cult of Individuality line as “ornamented” and Hvman as a “cleaner collection”. “I don’t design for this customer or that customer, I design clothing that anybody can wear.”, Poisson stated during the backstage bustle before the show. “We don’t trend forecast and look for what’s hot, I want to make what’s hot and go from there.” Poisson also shared.
