DOC NYC is here!
DOC NYC, happening from November 12-19, is a celebration of all the phenomenal documentaries which were made this year. And on November 12, 2015 DOC NYC hosted a spectacular after party at the Lugo restaurant at Penn Station in celebration of the opening night screening of Miss Sharon Jones directed by Barbara Kopple.
Sharon Jones has been called “the female James Brown” for the energy she brings to the stage backed by her band The Dap-Kings. In Miss Sharon Jones!, you will follow her on an emotional journey as she goes through chemotherapy and struggles to mount a comeback show at New York’s Beacon Theater.
Lugo specializes in some of the most delicious Italian comfort foods. We enjoyed a variety of pizzas ranging from margherita, white pizza with sausage, and a pesto based pizza at the party. Also, a delicious and savory meatball with marinara sauce was being served as well as potato croquettes that were just as delicious.
Guest also enjoyed exquisite wine and champagne. The overall energy of this party was especially high. DOC NYC is America’s Largest Documentary Festival after all! DOC NYC will feature a variety of stellar documentaries and will end on November 19, so be sure to get tickets as soon as you can before they run out.
The festival is presented by HBO Documentary, Netflix, New York Magazine, A&E IndieFilms and WNET.
