On Wednesday, June 5th, Lyft partnered with Stud Country to kick off Pride Month and celebrate queer joy with a bright pink bang and a performance from Kesha at Brooklyn Bowl.
Lyft placed a spotlight on their partnership with Advocates for Trans Equality, a group that sponsors name changes for nonbinary and trans drivers.
The event was themed in Lyft pink, and attendees were impeccably dressed in cowboy, boots, and bright shades of fuchsia. Pink bandanas were distributed as party favors for attendees.
Even the desserts were on theme – the beautiful rose-hued pink displays were created by Cake Zine, an independent magazine that explores the nuances of pop culture through the lens of sweets.
Brooklyn Bowl, a multi-functional event space with a disco dance floor and bowling alley, was decked out with numerous western themed photo backdrops for attendees to pose with props and show off their incredible outfits. Photographer Hunter Abrams was on site to capture every moment.
Stud Country, co-host of the event, is a group of queer dancers that hosts events in several cities around the United States. They host monthly events at Brooklyn Bowl. The organizers led attendees through beginner two-step and line dancing lessons to classic country songs.
At the end of the night, attendees learned one final dance –to Kesha’s “Take it Off,” before Kesha herself came on stage to perform it. She also gave an electrifying performance of her 2010 hit “We R Who We R” accompanied by incredible backup dancers.
Lyft and Stud Country partnered to create a memorable event celebrating queer joy, diversity, dance, and the start of Pride! We can’t wait to two-step into the next one!
