Werner Herzog manages to bring his sense of humor to the most unlikely subject matter.
German Documentarian Werner Herzog is back at it again with his latest documentary about the internet’s impact on the past, present and future of our society. In Lo and Behold, Reveries of the Connected World, Herzog breaks his film into several sections tackling different aspect of the internet, i.e. the good, the bad and the ugly. From the inception of digital communication all the way to potentially living on mars in the distant future, Werzog attempts to cover it all.
Not only does he tackle the technical aspects of the internet by talking with and interviewing experts like Bob Kahn, Elon Musk, Sebastian Thrun, Lawrence Krauss and many more, he delves into existential notions such as “can the internet dream of itself?” Along with the more whimsical side of the internet, Werzog also addresses the dark side of advanced technology including addiction, the lack of privacy and radiation intolerance that has literally forced some people to uproot their lives and move to rural parts of the U.S. where cell reception is almost non-existant.
