The NCIS universe is officially taking over New York City. With the launch of NCIS: New York, CBS is bringing one of television’s most enduring crime franchises to the Big Apple, introducing a new team of agents, fresh investigations, and a setting that brings an entirely different energy to the series.
At the center of the new installment is LL Cool J, reprising his fan-favorite role as Special Agent Sam Hanna. After spending 14 seasons leading NCIS: Los Angeles, Hanna returns to his hometown of New York City, where he joins forces with a new team tasked with protecting one of the country’s most important cities and ports.
Joining him is Scott Caan as Special Agent Nick Schaeffer, a roguish agent whose partnership with Hanna brings a new dynamic to the series. The ensemble also features Jennifer Beals as Assistant Special Agent in Charge Robyn Wells, who leads the New York field office, alongside Jacqueline Byers, Shane Harper, and Devin Druid.
Set against the backdrop of New York City, the series explores high-stakes investigations while introducing audiences to a team of agents with distinct personalities, approaches, and perspectives. From the leadership of Hanna and Wells to the unpredictable partnership between Hanna and Schaeffer, NCIS: New York aims to establish its own identity within the expansive franchise.
At New York Comic Con, The Knockturnal caught up with LL Cool J, Scott Caan, Jennifer Beals, Shane Harper, and the cast to discuss bringing the NCIS universe to New York, building relationships within the new ensemble, and what makes this latest installment different from its predecessors.
