The doors of The Continental Hotel have officially opened—for one day at least.
On Friday, May 10, Lionsgate hosted a John Wick activation at One Hanson Place in Brooklyn, New York, where certain portions of the franchise’s newest installment were filmed. Just in time for the world premiere of John Wick: Chapter 3, a select number of fans and supporters were immersed into the world of John Wick, given an alias and a new identity to complete the mission at hand.
Full of mystery and fun, the experience started with a hotel check-in where actors informed participants of the “rules”—the number one rule being, there is to be no blood on Continental grounds. The High Table warned attendees of being watched closely throughout the experience.
The hotel concierge was interactive and informative, performing the likeness of several scenes from the film. After a dance performance, the director, Chad Stahelski stopped by to sign movie posters, along with Mark Dacascos (Zero), and Lance Reddick (Charon).
There was a mock suit fitting where one of the actors performed a demonstration of a bullet/knife proof suit. Several costumes from the film were also on display in this station.
At the end of the activation, there was the famous Continental bar and an art gallery with paintings and portraits of John Wick throughout the three installments.
Attendees left with a gift bag, redeemable by coins collected throughout, full of John Wick novelties including: access to a digital movie, an excommunicado hat, Continental tote bag, and a keepsake comic book.
The recreation of the on-film location, The Continental, was just in time for the official release on May 17, 2019.
