Exclusive: CM Punk, Jade Cargill, Britt Baker, and Orange Cassidy Talk AEW at San Diego Comic Con

It has been almost three years since All Elite Wrestling made an appearance at San Diego Comic Con. But the upstart promotion is back. Before the stars of AEW meet their fans at the Jazwares booth along with the panel, they took their time to speak with the media.

I had the chance to speak with AEW stars CM Punk, Britt Baker, Orange Cassidy, and Jade Cargill. This was Punk’s first public appearance since he was injured over a month and a half ago. The topics of discussion were about Punk and Cargill’s workout regimen, Britt Baker balancing her career as a dentist while also being a professional wrestler, the agents that help them on their matches, and Punk providing an update on the second season of STARZ’s Heels.

Also to note, I attended the All Elite Wrestling panel that took place at San Diego Comic Con. The stars listed above including Chris Jericho, and Bryan Danielson took the center stage to talk about the promotion. The biggest piece of news to come out the panel, is that Bryan Danielson is cleared to wrestle. This comes after about a month from his injury. CM Punk also stated that he did not know when he will be able to return to the ring again. Chris Jericho also teased that AEW Dynamite could soon make their AEW debut sometime this year.

In addition, The Hamptons Concours also featured new vehicles fromΒ luxury brands Including Aston Martin, McLaren, Porsche, Lamborghini and Bentley.

The Children’s Place Partners with Kevin Hart to Support Communities for the 2022 Back-to-School Season

Today, July 26th,Β The Children’s Place,Β the largest pure-play children’s specialty retailer in North America, announced its 2022 Back-to-School campaign in partnership withΒ award-winning actor, comedian, best-selling author, and philanthropist,Β Kevin Hart.

With the goal of empowering children through reading and continued education, The Children’s Place alongside Mr. Hart, will launch a number of learning centers across the country. Located in deserving neighborhoods, these learning centers are fun, safe spaces which will encourage creative exploration and discovery among children.

Kicking off the back-to-school season, the Company and Mr. Hart unveiled the first community learning center at NYC Parks’ Thomas Jefferson Recreation Center today (7/26), in East Harlem, in New York City.

Scaling the program to deserving communities nationwide, The Children’s Place will continue its efforts in launching an additional nine learning center locations throughout fall 2022. Working collaboratively with local libraries, community centers, andΒ ThriftBooks,Β these learning centers will each be stocked with thousands ofΒ books, totaling to over 20,000 books donated.

Each space will featureΒ comfortable seating arrangements, interactive chalkboard walls, and empowering wall murals and artwork to serve as a safe haven where children in each community can gain access to reading materials and learning supplies, while also allowing themselves to thrive in imagining.

Barbara Tober Bestowed with Inaugural Millbrook Humanitarian Award by the Breast Cancer Research Foundation

Now in its seventh year, Play for P.I.N.K. Millbrook is all but a tradition in this tight-knit community. Millbrook, located some two hours from New York City, is a serene seasonal escape noted for its undulating hilly terrain and longtime ties to equestrian life. It also happens to be where the Play for P.I.N.K. organization has laid roots, raises funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation throughΒ sporting and lifestyle events.

To speed advances in breast cancer detection, treatment and survivorship, Play for P.I.N.K. (Prevention, Immediate diagnosis, New technology, Knowledge) supports thousands of volunteers nationwide as they raise funds for research. Their efforts raise $4 million annually, and 100% of that goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, founded by Evelyn Lauder ofΒ The EstΓ©e Lauder Companies in 1993.

For the Play for P.I.N.K. Millbrook event, supporters arrived at the bucolic Mashomack Fish & Game Preserve; the backdrop of the event being the impressionistic Halcyon Lake andΒ spring green and pink flowers decorating the luncheon tables for a standing room-only audience. The co-chairs of this event were Cathy Franklin, Karen Klopp, Beth Ledy, and Alexandra Traber McNamara.

Myra Biblowit, the longtime President and CEO of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation conveyed the fact thatΒ Evelyn Lauder’s vision of an organization has stood the test of time. The organic development of Play For P.I.N.K. is evidence of that. “Evelyn would be overjoyed to see you all here today.”Β 

Lorna Graev had the honor of presenting the inaugural Millbrook Humanitarian Award to the illustrious Barbara Tober, longtime editor of Brides Magazine, proud Millbrook resident, and supporter a vast range of charitable organizations. Loran Graev spoke on the intent of the award saying, β€œShe and her beloved husband Donald have lived a life of philanthropy that have impacted so many people.”

In a letter, Leonard Lauder praised Mrs. Tober: “You have helped so many people through your impactful philanthropy. Where there is art and design, there is you, Barbara. Where there is fashion, there is you, Barbara. Where there is a zest for life, there is you, Barbara. Where there is Barbara, there is hope for a better world. I can think of no individual more deserving of this award. Barbara dear, you are a true humanitarian, and I am humbled by your friendship.”

Guests at the luncheon were able to take home a small token in the form of a series of “Thoughts to Live By”, written by Barbara herself.Β

Barbara was greeted with a standing ovation as she received the inaugural Millbrook Humanitarian Award. SheΒ closed the luncheon with a reflection on the progress made as an organization. β€œThere are thousands of women proudly walking forward because of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. YOU are all Philanthropists and should be proud of YOUR efforts to make this disease disappear!”

Is Longhouse Reserve the Most Exciting Outdoor Space in America Right Now?

Situated between the more suburban hamlet of Bridgehampton and the rugged, cliffy town of Montauk is East Hampton, last in the strand of Hamptons towns. Remarkably, as those places have changed, East Hampton has stood as a rock of resistance, committed to its farm-and-stock legacy- some aspect of high Bohemia in an otherwise summer colony scene.

Vast stands of trees, carpets of moss, tables of ferns, and busts of stray sand contain years of ecological history. The climate offers a calm humidity and the sun is intercepted by ocean mist, providing a glassy warm light making everything in view practically glow. All of this in mind and it becomes clear why, in 1975 Jack Lenor Larsen, chose East Hampton to create a microcosm of what he treasured as a world-renowned textile designer. At the 16-acre LongHouse Reserve, there is aΒ deep dive into an organic soul, with every inch of its territory not only preserved, but reconsidered and critically respected. While awe-inspiring scenesΒ of stillness can define the experience of Longhouse Reserve, the Reserve tends to be bustling with activity on any given day. Under the leadership of interimΒ director Carrie Rebora Barrat,Β a former deputy director at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and former president and CEO of the New York Botanical Garden, Longhouse Reserve has become a dynamic place to be, with all sorts of events take place all through the year.

To this end, Longhouse Reserve has become a meeting place for creative people who appreciate the environment and arts. The events schedule this summer is extremely robust, including a well-received conversation series which has included the likes of Lee Skolnick, Bjorn AmelanΒ (whose work is now on view at LongHouse Reserve), andΒ Michele Oka Doner, whose Florida-based childhood was theΒ fuel for a lifelong study and appreciation of the natural world. The talks, situated under a shade tree and near a pond, offer an inspiring sense of clarity and ritual to attendees.

Just this weekend, LongHouse Reserve supporters celebrated with ONWARD, LongHouse Reserve’s annual summer benefit which managed to raise over half a million dollars for the garden. The likes of actor Nathan Lane, sculptorΒ Alice Aycock, fashion executive Fern Mallis came together to support the East Hampton institution with dancing, food, and an opportunity to experience the LongHouse Reserve after hours.

Global travels and art defined Larsen’s legendary practice (with works now in theΒ collections of MoMA and the Louvre, among so many others) and they are fully reflected in the territory of Longhouse Reserve. Today, it includes the house, a tranquil and human-oriented interpretation of an A-frame design, and the extensive grounds filled with roughly 60 contemporary sculptures, a combination of pieces on loan and permanent works, including Buckminster Fuller’s β€œFly’s Eye Dome” and Yoko Ono’s giant, monochromatic chess game, β€œPlay It by Trust.” The Pavilion is set at the end of Peters Pond, which accepts the sun with joy and lily pads stage against grandΒ Dale Chihuly works.

LongHouse Reserve

The grounds are intentionally divided by privet hedges, offering “rooms” to explore, with some areas featuring human-made art (particularly immersive is the Sol LeWitt sculpture) while others indulge in the beauty of the environment (The Dunes and Grass Garden, for example). Wherever you walk, elements of surprise and amusement are baked into the experience. Less anticipated is the sense of oneness and control in the environment, delightfully rare by today’s standard. And that’s just in the daytime. LongHouse Reserve can be illuminated to provide an entirely new experience by night.

On The Scene: AMC Network Celebrates The Final Season of The Walking Dead With a Fan Celebration at San Diego Comic Con

AMC’s The Walking Dead is wrapping up their final season with their fan celebration. The event took place at San Diego Comic Con across the street of the convention center.
In addition to several exclusive experiences, designed specifically for San Diego Comic-Con, the series’ art and craft were on display, showcasing a variety of its set pieces, props and artifacts from all seasons, which offered fans an opportunity to capture photos and videos surrounded by their favorite aspects from the series, and were the perfect setting to share their favorite moments from the series. Additionally, custom video content has been created to highlight memorable moments from TWD, and to include special messages from the cast, crew, and special guests, to celebrate this groundbreaking television series.

Having been on the scene, I was able to witness all of this. As seen in the main show, the celebration had a lot of references to The Commonwealth’s location. That was from the banners, the walls, and even the propaganda flags. I felt like I was really there.

A large selection of custom-designed screen-printed t-shirts honoring the Walking Dead series were available exclusively that evening, and attendees had the opportunity to choose one of four types of shirt that would be featured in that evening’s event, as well as to transform themselves into the undead at a make-up station inspired by the Walking Dead, enjoy Commonwealth treats including the “Taste of Tradition” ice cream varieties along with themed beverages and food, and participate in a Commonwealth-inspired lottery for additional prizes.

With the help of The Walking Dead fan celebration in particular, AMC distributed TWD enamel pins designed specifically to commemorate the show’s eleven seasons, plus one bonus pin commemorating the fan celebration. The area was also inhabited by walkers!

Β There were also members of the cast in attendance. A number of stars were on hand to celebrate the show, including Norman Reedus, Seth Gilliam, Michael James Shaw, Cailey Flenning, and key executives Angela Kang and Greg Nicotero. The fan celebration was a great way for fans to meet the stars of the show and to truly celebrate the fandom!

The Minions takeover At Central Park DiscOasis

Disco lives on forever and Central Park is where you can find the modern, Studio 54 ,roller staking oasis in the middle of Manhattan. Come get your groove on and you might even run into a minion or two.

On July 21st 2022, I was cordially invited to the Minions take over of the DiscOasis in Central Park, New York City. Β Roller skating has made a huge comeback since the 1970’s and disco will always reign on. The DiscOasis is a new and glamorous edition to Central Park’s Wollman Rink, which is previously known for ice skating. It’s a great transition during the winter to summer, to incorporate multiple activities each kind of person, young or mature would enjoy. Once you approach the rink, you are welcomed with music, glitter, vibrant colors and warm smiles. I was so excited about The Minions celebration of the new film The Rise of Gru.

Personally, I love the Minions franchise, they’re filled with laugher and real heartfelt lessons on life so of course I was excited to be apart of this experience. Β When you walk in, you were greeted by two life sizes Minions and they definitely live up to their mischievous nature. They had a cute set up for pictures with them and a minion themed photo booth. The DiscOasis team were beyond accommodating, attending to everyone who they came across and making my experience that much more enjoyable. Once I got my skates I headed to the rink and might I say definitely took me for surprise. My eyes light up in excitement to the glitz and glamour that was out on the rink. Β Disco-balls shined in each corner of the rink kissed by the sun and the music was so on theme it felt like I was transported right into the original Studio 54. The Disco also has professional skaters that are on the rink who can be seen moving and grooving with their routines. They each had their own unique signature tricks and even a community of dancers that flooded the floor during a specific song. Β I had the pleasure of meeting three phenomenal skaters.

Meet the sensational Sade. Sade started skating at the age of 31 and can be found in the cutest vibrant outfits that match her personality. She is bold, beautiful and can groove so effortlessly in the rink. She can be found on instagram with the name @thesensational_sade.

Kardale Holland

 

This is Mr. Kardale Holland, who is an incredible dancer and actor. Kardale was lighting up the rink with tricks I’ve never seen before, he even did a handstand on skates! If you come by the DiscoOasis, you definitely have to make your acquaintance with these two individuals.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Motown herself, the world renounced Lynna Davis. In her career she has made quite the name for herself as an actress, singer, and stunt & choreographer who’s energy will just make you smile. Lynna has such a warm spirit with a killer fashion sense.

After roller skating, I made my way to the Minions section of the rink and got a gorgeous minions goodie bag filled with a minions pen, T-shirt, keychain, toy, and cassette tape with the new movie, The rise of Gru soundtrack. The kids loved the minions and so did the adults because we spent the rest of the night dancing with the minions.

I had such an amazing time and will definitely be back to enjoy another Studio 54 night at the Disco Oasis. I felt such bliss on the rink without a care in the world about my other responsibilities, problems or hardship, I was truly blown away but how everyone was so incredibly friendly, supportive, creative and expressive, its like a paradise. If anyone can find time to make their way to Central Park, it is worth the trip. See you there!

Vanessa Hudgens & Oliver Trevena Host No Kid Hungry x Cali Cares Event in Beverly Hills

Last Sunday night, we really were all in this together.

Actors Vanessa Hudgens and Oliver Trevena hosted a charity event for No Kid Hungry x Cali Cares on behalf of their cactus water brand Caliwater at Spago in Beverly Hills. The star-studded event included brand investor Glen Powell (Top Gun), comedian Dane Cook, Paris JacksonΒ and many more came out to support ending child hunger in America.

Hudgens and Trevena emceed the event for their guests, which included a full evening of programming, silent auction, live auction, seated dinner, performances, and cocktail hour. There was certainly no shortage of cocktails as guests enjoyed drinks featured by event sponsor El Cristiano Ultra Premium Tequila, specialty Caliwater cocktails, Thomas Ashbourne Craft Spirits, Peroni Nastro Azzurro, wine from Malibu Rocky Oaks Estates Vineyards, Gancia Sparkling Wine, along with Nue Vodka and Calamity Gin.

At the sit down dinner, attendees enjoyed performances by musical guests such as Jake Wesley Rogers, Alexander 23, Leo Gallo, and Hudgens showed off her pipes backed by a live jazz band with a performance of Billie Holiday’s “All of Me.”

Some hot ticket auction items included were a lunch and workout at Dogpound with Glen Powell, a membership to Artha Wellness Sanctuary, a Hydrow rowing machine, and a painting by artist Oleg Jones.
