Children’s TYLENOL’s Baby Shower Experience, featuring actress-singer Lea Michele and pediatrician and content creator Dr. Mona Amin, taught guests about TYLENOL’s product portfolio through expert tips, games and gift basket curation on July 23.

Michele and Dr. Mona kicked off the event with a discussion answering questions submitted by new and expecting parents about family wellness. Both shared their experiences as moms and how they manage sickness in their own households.

Michele is a mom to a four year-old son and is expecting her second child. She said TYLENOL — the #1 pediatrician recommended brand of pain and fever relief — has been a “staple” in her household for the last few years, which she has been “grateful” for as a working mom, especially during her run as Fanny Brice in “Funny Girl” on Broadway.

“Being in a Broadway show, people expect you to be there when they buy tickets,” Michele said. “It was very stressful for me whenever my child would get sick. The best thing that I’ve found is to just be prepared and do the best that we can do, but also know that it’s going to happen and that all we can do as moms is to just do our best.”

Dr. Mona, a board-certified pediatrician, lactation specialist and parenting coach, offered advice to new parents who struggle to calm their own nerves when their children get sick. As a mom of two, Dr. Mona said that being an anxious parent herself has informed her compassionate approach to pediatric medicine. On her podcast, PedsDocTalk, Dr. Mona shares educational information on parent’s most common concerns.

“I have a mantra: ‘healing happens,’” Dr. Mona said. “We tend to worry about the worst case scenarios, especially if we’re first or second time [parents]. But remember that those things are rare. Yes, I’ve seen kids get really sick, but more times than that I’ve seen that healing happens. Remember that, and remember your support squad who is going to be around you and who is going to support you. You need to rely on those people so that you can rest and rely on your health.”

Following the panel discussion, Michele, Dr. Mona and Nurse Sibyl Vinas, a CVICU nurse and content creator hosted a baby shower-style game session where guests learned more about TYLENOL’s products and illness in infants.

The game featured products including TYLENOL’s Dye-Free Cherry Liquid, a pain reliever and fever reducer available for infants up to two years old and for children ages two to 11 years old, and SmartCheck, a digital ear scope that can capture videos and images to share with healthcare providers to check for ear infections. The device is compatible with their SmartCheck app, which can compare and track changes in a child’s ear.

The event concluded with gift basket curation, where guests applied their knowledge of TYLENOL products and child wellness to create care packages for Hearts of Gold, a community organization supporting mothers in need. Hearts of Gold has supported single mothers and their families’ growth through offering financial literacy and parenting courses, workforce development programs, tutoring for children and assistance transitioning out of homelessness. The organization has helped stabilize and sustain change for families for 30 years.

Gift baskets included products for child and parent wellness, including Infant TYLENOL’s Dye-Free Cherry Liquid, SmartCheck devices, Desitin Maximum Strength Diaper Rash Cream, Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Lotion and Stress Relief Oat Body Wash, children’s books focused on medicine and of course: a teddy bear for comfort.

“Being a mother has been the greatest gift, and [I’m] understanding how to be more grounded and to be more present,” Michele said when asked what advice she’d give to her past self. “I definitely have learned that you can plan as much as you want, but things are going to happen and that’s okay. And it doesn’t have to be so perfect. Embrace the flaws and moments of imperfection, there really is such beauty in those times and such a great opportunity for growth and learning.”
