On Saturday July 23rd, Vans hosted a launch party for their new collaboration line with world renowned underground artist Robert Williams.
The event celebrated the release of their limited edition collection that dropped the same day. The party took place at the Downtown Los Angeles neighborhood gem The Resident. The space showcased the new shoes and was accompanied by food trucks serving dishes influenced by the Vans culture. There was even a open grill where quesadillas were hand made. A Q&A also took place giving attendees the opportunity to ask Robert questions regarding how he got started in the art business as well as what motivated him to start the contemporary art bible and magazine Juxtapoz.
This is the second collaboration between Vault by Vans and Robert Williams. The veteran artist has made three pieces which greatly illustrate his creative style influenced by hot rods and comics. His designs are psychedelically raw and consistently prove to mesh well with Vans iconic design and architecture.
“Well, I was very honored that Vans would synchronize with me again. This was not the first collaboration, I did one 5 years ago that worked out very well, I’m honored,” Williams told us.
Robert Williams has been active in the art scene for over 51 years whose pieces have found themselves in the hands of Leonardo DiCaprio, Debbie Harry, Nicholas Cage, and Anthony Kiedis just to name a few.
Band OFF! capped the evening with a concert. They performed “Hypnotized,” “I Don’t Belong”, “Wiped Out”, and “Red White and Black” just to name a few. Thank you Vans and Robert Williams for the awesome party and great vibes.
