“Bhaiya Wave” which means “Broski Wave” when translated from its original Hindi/Urdu can be described as woozy, melodic R&B that is “Trap Soul’s” more evolved, rumbling bassline-cousin.

DATA-X, a Toronto DJ and Art Director has constructed an ambitious 52 Song Spotify Playlist exclusively for The Knockturnal that sticks true to that definition using a myriad of influences. It has listeners covered from all angles. It sonically carries a narrative that might fit in your night-time commute home, very feels-driven.

DATA-X features music from tons of artists; up-coming and big names. The creative guru strolls through his cerebral kitchen explaining how this playlist is a big deal. The micro-detailing by himself orchestrates an exciting sonic experience. It’s like eating the perfect dish at the end of the day that has just enough kick to complete the umami. Enough to warm up your insides on cold nights. It might have something to do with THEMXXNLIGHT‘s eastern influence (they are South Asian but US-based). DATA-X explains how the title of playlist comes from the duo, sparking the need to make a playlist dedicated to it:

“These boys [THE MXXNLIGHT] make perfect music and they don’t stray from their strengths, it’s perfect they’re with Taylor Gang. They nailed their style, curated their producers and are on the cusp of pushing this hybrid culture with a really dope wave”

Available on Spotify. Take in the playlist below.
