Two years after the release of his New York Times bestselling memoir I Can’t Make This Up, comedian, actor and entrepreneur Kevin Hart is back with a followup with his Audible audiobook titled The Decision: Overcoming Today’s BS For Tomorrow’s Success.
The project is an Audible Original which is solely been released in audiobook format. In the book, Hart shares tools that he has used in his life when it comes to making decisions that has helped him achieve success. Hart joined a group of reporters on Zoom to discuss The Decision.
“This is about me using my trials, tribulations, and journey to get where I am today as an example of the thought process that helped me along the way. It isn’t a follow my guide, do what I do audiobook. This is a here is the things that helped [me] and basically I’m giving you that to open up a different POV or give you an opportunity to look through a different lens and possibility handle things in your life differently or you can be able to maneuver in a way you probably didn’t. It’s kind of refreshing, to be transparent and motivate and inspire with that high level of transparency.” Hart told journalists about what The Decision truly is.
When The Knockturnal asked Hart about how long it took to make The Decision, and the sequencing of the book Hart said, “You’re looking about an eight to nine-month process overall. As far as the titles and the chapters that I decided to do it was what grabs your attention. You gotta feel and figure out the way you can incorporate the personality. Cowboying Up, What is-ness those are attention grabbers. Instantly you laugh but then you do want to know what is-ness is, what the f-k is he talking about what does this mean. Then as you go into it you find that humor but yet the real. So all of my chapter titles that’s a synergy that I kind of wanted to follow, that was my way of putting my essence into a project like this. I gotta give you Kevin Hart in some type of way as you know and as you would want. So that humor attached to some gems is uncanny, it’s mindblowing. I remember as a kid where going to church used to bore me because the pastors they just were boring. It’s like g-damn I’m falling to sleep this chair is hard you make me come here every Sunday, I’m a young kid don’t they know they have to grab my attention somehow. Then you go into a church and see a pastor performing, performance is attached to his cadences but it’s with the understanding that you have no [choice] but to take this information because I’m delivering in a way where you’re so focused, you’re so dialed in. Don’t look past the genius and intent behind a performance. You have to have a takeaway from a performance. So in this particular listen, I’m giving you a performance. I’m giving you what you would want and I’m giving information alongside it. So I hope that the creative side is realized and that you understand it’s one of the things that made I Can’t Make This Up a great read. You go back and you look at the chapter titles of I Can’t Make This Up they were so random and hilarious. Some of the titles had nothing to do with the chapters. It’s my thing, it’s my little anecdote. So I followed the trend and stayed true to it.”
