The Emmy Award-winner and “Key and Peele” creator will host this year’s IFP Gotham Awards, the nominees of which are some of the most ingenious films of the year.
The Independent Filmmaker Project is putting on the 26th annual Gotham Awards this year. This ceremony praises the best and sometimes most overlooked independent film and television programs of each year. The Gotham Awards are known for kicking off the film award season as they start in late November. IFP just announced that “Key and Peele” star — and TV guest star extraordinaire — Keegan-Michael Key is set to be the host of the 2016 ceremony. Aside from his numerous credits on TV’s most well-regarded programs such as Fargo and Parks and Recreation, Key was named among Time Magazine’s “Most Influential People of 2014” and Entertainment Weekly’s “Entertainers of the Year of 2012.”
“We’re excited to have Keegan-Michael at the helm of this year’s Gotham Awards celebrations,” said Joana Vicente, Executive Director of IFP and the Made in NY Media Center by IFP. “His unique presence and brand of humor will be a perfect addition to what we expect will be a lively and exciting show.”
The show will be made even more lively by the amount of unique nominees and exciting entries in this year’s categories. Among them, Manchester By The Sea racked up the most individual nominations with recognition in four different categories, including Best Feature. Other nominees that range from films throughout the year include Moonlight and David Egger’s horror hit The Witch. Read the full list of nominees below:
