Jon Moxley’s pro wrestling career is fascinating.

Jon Moxley grew from his deathmatch roots to winning championships and building feuds in the top wrestling promotions in the world. Whether it’s his WWE work with The Shield under the name Dean Ambrose, his NJPW runs with the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship and IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, or his current work as AEW’s ace as the current (and 4x) AEW World Heavyweight champion, Moxley’s determination and raw energy remain unmatched. Even with all his success, Moxley describes himself as maintaining the mind of a student, always picking up new strategies and tools everywhere he goes. He still works the occasional indie show, most notably with GCW, and competed at CMLL, the oldest wrestling promotion in the world, in the legendary Arena Mexico. His feuds with wrestlers like Kenny Omega, Seth Rollins, Eddie Kingston, Nick Gage, Kevin Owens, Juice Robinson, Adam Page, and AJ Styles were incredible, with each match full of Moxley’s brutality and aggressive energy.

We had the opportunity to speak with Jon Moxley right after his street fight with Cope on AEW Dynamite. While recovering from the intense spike spot he took during the fight, Moxley talked about how he values patience and gathering experience as a wrestler. He hammered home the value of a wrestler taking their time with their career to build the mental and emotional fortitude needed to become a great wrestler rather than rushing toward the glitz and glam. Moxley addressed how much he loved CMLL and his passion for ensuring AEW wrestlers reach their full potential. He also addressed his upcoming championship match with former champion Swerve Strickland and how Strickland needs to focus on getting himself ready to enter the ring with Moxley.

Jon Moxley will be defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Swerve Strickland at AEW Dynasty on Sunday, April 6th on PPV.
