Outlasting a stacked field of competitors, he showcased not only his in-ring ability but also the mental toughness required to seize the moment when it mattered most, solidifying his place among AEW’s top talent.
With the title now around his waist and a target on his back, Knight is embracing the challenge that comes with being champion. From reflecting on his journey to breaking down his mindset moving forward, he spoke with The Knockturnal in this interview.
First off, congratulations on winning the TNT Championship. What was the first thing you did after the win?
I feel like people don’t want me to say this, but I went straight to Magic City. I had to celebrate a little, you know? But honestly, after everything, I just needed rest. I’ve been on the go nonstop, so I kept it low-key and made sure to recover.
You’ve been traveling a lot lately. How demanding has that schedule been?
It’s been crazy. I’ve been from Rome straight to TV, then Arena Mexico, then right back to TV again. It’s nonstop. You’ve got to take rest when you can because the schedule doesn’t slow down.
That match was intense. How did you mentally prepare, and when did you realize you had it won?
I didn’t know I had it until the three-count hit. Going into that gauntlet, I knew it could go either way. I had to dig deep, stay focused, and execute when it mattered most.
You trained at the New Japan Dojo, which has a reputation for being intense. What’s the biggest lesson you still carry with you?
It’s all about discipline and consistency. Every day you step in there, you have to give everything you’ve got, empty the tank, and then do it again the next day. That mindset stays with you forever.
We hear a lot about how tough that training is. Can you describe it?
It’s pain, honestly. Your legs are burning, and you’re doing hundreds of reps, pushing past your limit. But the more you do it, the more you grow. You just keep progressing.
You started your career right before the pandemic. Did that ever make you question your path?
Not really. I always had faith in where I was going. No matter what obstacle came up, I wasn’t going to falter. This was always the goal.
You’ve also seen the collaboration between promotions AEW and CMLL grow. What’s your take on that?
It’s been amazing. You’re seeing different wrestling styles come together. When lucha libre is showcased on American TV, it brings a different energy. And when we go to Mexico, we experience their culture firsthand. It helps everyone grow, especially the fans.
You’ve been teaming with Mike Bailey in AEW. How did that partnership come together?
We’ve known each other for years. He’s got experience all over the world, and we’ve wrestled each other before, so we know how to bring out the best in each other. We’re very different, but that’s why it works.
When you’re doing high-risk moves, does doubt ever creep in?
Never. You can’t have doubt. Whatever you think, you attract. I always focus on the best possible outcome and make it happen.
Now that you’re the AEW TNT champion, what matches are you most looking forward to?
Everybody’s talented, so I know I’ve got a target on my back. I’m ready for anyone who wants a shot. But right now, I’m looking forward to facing Claudio, and I know Speedball wants his opportunity too. Those are definitely on my radar.

I’m just getting started. I’m going to keep delivering, keep improving, and make the most of every opportunity.
