Thank you to AEG and Janet’s incredible management and publicist, via the introduction, facilitated by Joanne Juele of AEG Presents for Resorts World Las Vegas, for the warm welcome. I had the pleasure and honor of attending the final night of Janet Jackson’s May 2025 residency on May 28th — and what a night it was.
As someone who has written over 80 articles and covered countless events, I can confidently say this show holds a special place in my heart. Why? Because this wasn’t just a concert. This was a full-circle moment. A rhythm reset. A homecoming for both Janet and me.
She did this in my lifetime. And for that, I’m grateful.
I guess I’ve always been a Rhythm Nation baby. And we grow up with rhythm. Sometimes life throws you off balance, and you need to get in rhythm again — and this was that. Not because anything bad happened, but because I’ve been growing so much and so fast that I have to stop, breathe, and nurture my creativity, imagination, and music again.
I remember owning a Walkman like many of us did in the ’90s, headphones on, lost in my own world. I’d rewind my cassette tape too far just to replay a favorite part of Rhythm Nation. Side A. Side B. The black-and-white, iconic photography is etched in my memory. The harmony, the melodies, the beat, the BPM — but more than that, her heart. Janet has always told stories — through rhythm, through dance, through movement — about the state of the world and the state of her soul.
Walking into Resorts World Theatre was its own kind of experience — stunning, modern, and intentionally curated for a show of this magnitude. After check-in, I planned to grab water, but hey, it’s Vegas — so I treated myself to a cocktail.
To my surprise, the bar featured six premium and specialty drinks inspired by Janet’s iconic hits. I ordered the “Gimme a Beat” — a remix of Grand Coramino tequila, guava, lime, and ginger. The cocktails weren’t just drinks; they were vibes in a cup. Designed to taste and feel like the music — and so good.
From the moment the lights dimmed, I was transported. I danced, I sang, I celebrated. I became part of the world Janet has crafted for decades. And when I left — sneakers unlaced, face glowing, heart full — I realized: this woman is still teaching us how to move, how to feel, how to be.
Let’s talk about the setlist: a powerful blend of hits across decades. Her voice? The mic was on! She was Strong, funky when needed, soft and airy when called for. She still hits those high notes and iconic ad-libs we all love to scream-sing.
But what stood out most was the production quality. The sound in that room? Rich, warm, immersive. The live band and background singers? Insanely tight. The lighting, LED visuals, and choreography — everything was state-of-the-art.
And her dancers not only create this world with her — they are an extension of her onstage. They amplify her legacy. Choreography from Control to Someone To Call My Lover” Now hit with the same weight, but with fresh vitality. Shout-out to Denzel Chisholm, a dynamic dancer and choreographer, and the brilliant DJ Aktive for elevating the entire show with electric, undeniable presence.
Janet’s movement on stage was energetic, elegant, and enduring. Fresh off her 2025 AMAs Icon Award, she is someone who still loves what she does — and that might just be her fountain of youth. Las Vegas is where it all began for the Jackson family, and seeing her return here felt divine. It was never about the fame, and now, her legacy proves it. It’s about service: through music, through dance, through presence. Through legacy.
Even now, in her 50s, Janet is a force. A mother. A muse. A style icon. A living legend. And she’s not trying to relive her past — she’s redefining her present every time she steps on stage.
She doesn’t show us her abs anymore — major sad! But also, major respect. Janet’s a mother now, and she’s evolved her style and movement with grace, still performing at a world-class level. Let’s be real — she’s not serving the same skin as in decades past, and she doesn’t have to. But if you’re wondering? Yes, they’re still there. We peeped through the wardrobe! She’s moving a lot on that stage, and that kind of energy doesn’t lie. Those abs? We see them in her discipline. We see them in her joy. And most of all — we feel the love.
In a world saturated with toxic, low-vibration lyrics and digital noise, Janet’s music remains rooted in heart, healing, sensuality, unity, and excellence. She gives us pop, jazz, R&B, soul, dance, and everything in between. She gives us the truth. She gives us frequency.
So do yourself a favor — and when you get the chance to be in control, first you gotta recalibrate, reconnect, rediscover your rhythm. Janet Jackson returns to Resorts World Las Vegas this September. If you missed it in May, here’s your second chance to reset your rhythm and bask in legacy.
