On Wednesday evening, guests gathered at Thom Sweeney’s new Madison Avenue flagship to celebrate the British tailoring house’s debut on the Upper East Side. Over cocktails at Sol’s, the store’s dedicated bar and lounge, attendees explored the two-floor space and its blend of tailoring, retail, and hospitality.
Located at 761 Madison Avenue, the 4,100-square-foot flagship offers bespoke, made-to-measure, and ready-to-wear services under one roof. Inspired in part by the brand’s London townhouse, the store features tailoring workrooms, private lounges, and an in-house bar. Walnut finishes, blue velvet seating, and vintage accents give the space a residential feel that encourages clients to settle in rather than simply shop.
“When you’re in bespoke tailoring and menswear, so much of it is personal. It’s not transactional,” Store Manager Rico Allen said. “You’re spending time with clients. It’s hospitality.”
According to Allen, the neighborhood aligns naturally with the brand’s clientele.
“Our client is a sophisticated guy, shops in this neighborhood, lives in this neighborhood, and so you’ll see that reflected in the consumer as well,” he said.
Founded by Savile Row-trained tailors Thom Whiddett and Luke Sweeney, Thom Sweeney has become a go-to for actors and creatives seeking understated tailoring, with clients including Glen Powell, Leonardo DiCaprio, Andrew Garfield, Walton Goggins, and Patrick Dempsey.

The Madison Avenue flagship also strengthens the brand’s bespoke offering in New York. Savile Row-trained cutter Max Whitaker has relocated from London for a year-long residency at the store.
“This store allows us to offer the full bespoke process in New York,” co-founder Thom Whiddett said. “Having our Head Cutter relocate from London means we can bring that same level of craft here and work closely with clients from the first fitting through to the finished garment.”
Named in honor of hotelier Sol Kerzner, the father-in-law and longtime mentor of co-founder Luke Sweeney, Sol’s lounge reflects the hospitality-minded approach woven throughout the space.
“Hospitality is at the core of what we do. It is relationship based,” Allen said.
Judging by the guests who lingered around Sol’s throughout the evening, that philosophy is already taking shape at the brand’s new Madison Avenue home.
