During the Tribeca Film Festival this past weekend, Kerry Washington’s ‘IN THE SUN’ made its premiere at a special screening. The cast and crew of this film were present at the screening, including Dr. Shirley Chi, Courtney Chott, Monique Mack, Lucy Abdullah, Laura Moser, Kondwani Phiri, Chelsea Hoff, Bobby Moser, and Kristelle Laroche.
The documentary shows a diverse cast of people united by a common experience. Among them are, Courtney a 27-year-old with skin issues while her husband is deployed overseas, and Stu, a senior who has transformed his life through the evolution of sun exposure education. Dermatologist Dr. Chi, of Los Angeles, focuses on treating her patients while providing information on how to protect her children from the sun.
In Florida without sunscreen, Stu talks about his experience balancing in the sun and fighting melanoma that has reached his lymph nodes while protecting himself from the solar rays. Against the backdrop of Sissy’s story, Jack’s story, which contrasts with the pressure he, and others around him, face to go tanning and look bronzed, is told.
After the screening of ‘IN THE SUN’, there was a Q&A portion in which attendees were able to ask questions about the film while also educating the danger of too much sun exposure.
The first-of-its-kind project from Neutrogena Studios, is now available on Demand from The Roku Channel, YouTube, Apple TV, Google Play, and Vimeo.
