Between frantic schedules and sore feet, NYFW attendees can easily settle into fashion week fatigue by its final days.
Although during the week we may become bombarded with impressions left by spectacles, what we carry with and beyond us are the stories they emanate from. Luar’s S/S 25 show was an autobiographical take on punk, in which punk is an ethos of authenticity drawn from the designer’s coming of age in the clashing communities he grew up in(between).
The presentation’s title “En Boca Quedo”, which translates to “in the mouth it remained”, rings true as even a month later, the beautiful looks have us all talking. We had the honor to go backstage to discover more about the process behind the hair vision as well as the Tresemme products used to achieve it.
“The inspiration behind these looks is LUAR itself. I’ve been working with the brand for a few seasons and together we’ve been able to create this hair world based in sculptural, glassy design which pairs so well with the TRESemmé Freeze Hold Hairspray and Mega Control Gel.” – Evanie Frausto, Celebrity Stylist.
The world that Luar has created is personal yet expansive–futuristic yet unabashedly faithful to its roots–as Luar works with long-time collaborators such as Evanie Frausto, who use their expertise to empower the brand’s bold, rule-bending endeavors. Equipped with Tresemme’s Mega Hold gel, Frausto created the gravity-defying swoops that characterize the “Glossy Sculpt” look. He handmade several sculptures that would be pinned to some models’ heads to further elevate the look into an art piece. Models who weren’t sporting the Glossy Sculpt were adorned with the lustrous “Glass Hair”. Working on a variety of hair textures and lengths, the Tresemme-sponsored team rotated between the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Weightless Silky Shine Spray and the TRESemmé Mega Control Gel to realize the “dark fairy” aesthetic of the collection.
Luar S/S 25’s sculptural hair design serves as both a shield and a showcase–a celebration of self-expression that outshines any attempts at censorship of one’s identity. For those of you who are daring enough to embrace it, or simply want to learn more about hair transformation, here is the breakdown:
Key Products Used:
- TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Weightless Heat Protection Spray
- TRESemmé Mega Control Gel
- TRESemmé Freeze Hold Hairspray
- TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Weightless Silky Shine Spray
Glossy Sculpt
- Rake dry hair back into a high ponytail working the TRESemmé Freeze Hold Hairspray in as you go pulling the hair into a high pony based slightly below the crown of the head.
- Layer TRESemmé Mega Hold Gel onto the ponytail ensuring the hair is lacquered and shiny and running through to the ends.
- Split the ponytail into two sections, taking one and wrapping it around the head in a circular motion, similar to a wig wrap.
- With the second section of hair, wrap the piece in the opposite direction bringing the end forward and creating a 1920’s inspired swoop at the hairline.
- After wrapping, layer the TRESemmé Freeze Hold Hairspray onto the hair and dry completely with a blow dryer finishing the look with the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Weightless Silky Shine Spray.
- If desired, apply pieces of formed hair extensions coated in resin using bobby pins to the hair in a weaving pattern to create a sculptural design.
Glass Hair
- On dry hair, liberally apply the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Weightless Heat Protection Spray root to the ends.
- Blow dry the hair using a flat paddle brush until silky and straight.
- Apply the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Weightless Silky Shine Spray root to the end to add extra silky texture.
- Spray the TRESemmé Freeze Hold Hairspray onto the hair to tidy and perfect the style.
- Add a bandana or skull cap to finish the look.
