An intimate lounge with a backyard space? Sign us up.
Since the dawn of time, it has been every New Yorker’s mission to find a bar that they get all their wants, needs, and desires met. It takes the perfect balance of inventiveness from the cocktail menu, a reasonable price point, and a heavy pour for a NYC bar to really stand out. But with the massive amount of places you could go to drink, it’s hard to sift the duds and find the place that you can call ‘your spot’. And Hidden Lane is a true hidden gem that has opened up in Gramercy, right near Union Square. Hidden Lane is a bi-level bar and lounge that has a intimate interior that pairs perfectly with their beautiful outdoor space. And if you have been to enough bars in NYC, you know that a backyard space is extremely hard to find. Hidden Lane is the perfect spot to escape the winter and drink the cold away or hang out with your friends when the sun is out and you want an ice cold cocktail to cool you down.
And last week, Hidden Lane hosted an intimate Winter Cocktail Soiree. Guests were able to browse the Hidden Lane cocktail menu and try out some of their delicious and decadent offerings. The cocktail menu features a wide variety of cocktails, using premium ingredients and spirits. And what’s even better is that if you are in the mood for shots, you can put down the regular tequila shot and try some of their delicious craft shots.
We got a chance to sample some drinks and one that really stood out was called The Quilt. This drink was made with date-infused bourbon, sweet vermouth, apple cider, and cinnamon. When we took the first sip, we were pleasantly surprised at how smooth the drink felt. There was no harsh punch and intense oakiness that you would expect from a drink made with bourbon. In fact, the drink was subtly sweet due to the apple cider and had an amazing refreshing feel to it. And we have to mention our favorite craft shot too. We tried the Chocolate Cake Shot which is prepared with Frangelico and vodka and paired with sugar coated lemon on the side. Their instructions say to have the lemon first and take the shot after. The sweetness and tartness from the lemon starts to envelope your palette at first and then the shot brings a delicious chocolatey sweetness that marries perfectly with the lemon.
Along with the drink, this Winter Cocktail Soiree featured some delicious bites from a few local favorites. Zazzy’s Pizza showed up with their delicious margarita pies and a good ol’ pepperoni pizza. Both pies were delicious and had the perfect cheese to sauce ratio. And there can’t be a party without dessert. And we had that covered by Innocent Yesterday who provided some of the best chocolate covered doughnuts and cookies.
Hidden Lane is also open 7 days a week and has a fabulous Monday – Friday, 5pm – 8pm happy hour with $8 margaritas, as well as a Beer & Shot combination for $8. Guests can also enjoy $2 off all draft beers as well as $2 off mixed drinks and cocktails.
