OWN Network brings back the anthology series created and produced by Ava Duvernay, Cherish the Day for a second season.
The series chronicles the relationship of one couple who have rekindled their romance. The love story details the inner workings of Ellis Moran [Henry Simmons] and Sunday St. James [Joy Bryant] who originally fell in love in high school and find themselves reunited in New Orleans. Ellis is a former basketball player who is now a single father of two, and Sunday is a vegetarian celebrity chef on the cusp of fame. Keeping in theme with the series, Simmons hosted a small group at Eataly for a Cherish the Day cooking class.
Guests were greeted with a glass of champagne as they found their seat at a table arranged with elegant and classic décor. The intimate group of attendees mingled and indulged in appetizers including bruschetta, insalata caprese, pizza and much more prepared by Chef Giorgio Guerra. Simmons greeted everyone personally and thanked everyone for coming. After our taste buds were teased, it was time for the main event, learning how to make our own semolina pasta from scratch. Each guest had their own station prepped with flour, bowls and several utensils needed to prepare our pasta. We were led step by step through the process which some found easier than others. “I don’t think I’m doing this right,” Simmons joked. After creating our own pasta and being transported to Italy for a day, it was time to enjoy a three-course meal prepared by Chef Guerra. For dessert attendees were able to fill their own cannoli and apply toppings including pistachios and cocoa shavings.
Cherish the Day is now available to stream on OWN.
