Atlanta’s creative scene all came together this past Saturday to meet in West Midtown for Heat Index, a prelude event to the upcoming Heat Wave ATL experience on July 12.
The invite-only event was hosted at ANT/DOTE, a unique space founded by Lauren Amos that caters to Atlanta’s southern charm while also serving bold, high-fashion.
If you’re not familiar with ANT/DOTE yet, this is a good time to get acquainted. Imagine the stone-age architecture seen in Flintstone’s Bedrock mixed with the soft luxury of Rodeo Drive and the laid-back vibes of the West Coast all rolled into one boutique, and you have ANT/DOTE.
The inside featured museum-like curations that offered all things fashion and lifestyle, and a global variety of cutting-edge fashion from designers like Alaia, Marine Serre, and Balenciaga.
Behind the vision of the event was Blk Book Studio, a creative house known for curating elevated experiences with an emphasis on storytelling and community. Founder Kaylyn Fudge and her team took their time to build the elevated experience.
From the moment guests stepped inside, they were greeted by a full wall of bougie soaps tucked into a corner, and sleek racks that displayed new and vintage fashion from shoes and clothes to standout jewelry pieces. Deep inside towards the back, steps lead you down to another floor with a reception room occupied by a plush, velvet couch that invited guests to sit back and unwind while casually browsing. It was like a lookbook in motion.
ANT/DOTE wasn’t just a venue. Personally, it was one of the most visually striking retail spaces I’ve ever seen in the city and a testament to where fashion and culture are headed in Atlanta.
At every turn, Heat Index delivered moments like the “Immersive Style Zone,” a mixture of avant-garde and streetwear looks curated by ANT/DOTE’s image consultant and a signature scent experience, courtesy of Sinsational by Future Perfume. Yes, you read that right.
Remember this viral moment from 2014? Well, it’s now a woman’s fragrance, and it smells delicious.
Sinsational was started by Future in collaboration with entrepreneur, manager, and philanthropist Stephanie Jester, also known as his mom!
If you’re a fragrance girl like me, picture YSL Libre with a fun twist. It’s bold and loud enough to turn heads, but the sweet floral top notes and subtle musk undertones make it easy on the nose. It’s the kind of scent that’ll have people stopping you in the street every time you walk by to ask what you’re wearing.
After swirling a tiny sample on my wrist, the scent lasted all day and aged well under the Atlanta heat. For those like me who fell in love on the spot, exclusive pre-orders were open on-site.
With over 200 of Atlanta’s most style-forward creatives, media insiders, stylists, and influencers in the room, the room never felt uppity. The vibes were light as DJ Kiya Lacey’s playlist floated through the lush space, creating a soundtrack that switched between mellow and magnetic.
Outside in the courtyard, Red Bull helped keep the energy alive throughout the afternoon, offering specially curated cocktails perfect for the summer heat. Guests could also cool down with hand-crafted fruit cups from Fruta Mami and fruit-infused water courtesy of Bubbly & Treats mobile bar.
And of course, the cameras were working overtime. After all, the setting had just the right amount of flair, perfect for photo moments to post on your social feeds.
