Last Wednesday, HBO hosted the “High Maintenance” Season 4 Premiere at Mission Chinese in Brooklyn, NY. This was the first step in a two-part event to celebrate the local Brooklyn community and the High Maintenance Season Four premiere, timed to February and April 2020 respectively, that will provide local buzz and excitement while giving back to a worthy cause.
Upon entry in Mission Chinese, everything was so…green. From the fluorescent lights to the array of plants which served as a decorum reminiscent of a greenhouse. To make the space even more comfortable, each of the staff almost felt in character, smiling ear to ear and making sure we were having fun.
In the back corner was a make your own water pipe area where sharpies and dry erase markers of every color were available for anyone to design the pipe of their choice. Among the available ceramics apples and spoons.
The seating arrangement felt almost like a cafeteria, except the vases which held our flowers were, well… bongs. At the end of the night, they were given to everyone as parting gifts, as well as an array of other “green” products. So much food was brought out too, from “peanut noodles” to “kung pao beets,” all of which amazing with a surprising number of vegan options.
Finally, the Season 4 premiere screened, which was filled with comedy and a lot of introspection. Both were crucial episodes that showed how funny and how much heart High Maintenance can have.
Aside from all the excitement for the premiere, part of the event was an opportunity to showcase the intended designs and renewal of the community garden, their next event. To promote this, biodegradable fliers infused with seeds ready to go for planting were handed out to both promote their next event, as well as keeping the planet green!
Season 4 of High Maintenance is now streaming on HBO.com
