Hawthorn Heights has been performing for over 25 years.
They started out in Dayton Ohio and soon after created albums that have stayed at the top of the charts. The albums The Silence In Black And White and If Only You Were Lonely both went gold. This made the band serious contenders for top emo pop punk bands of that time and even now.

Irving Plaza had a packed house which showed how loyal and true fans have stayed through the years. You could barely get in the front doors to the concert hall. If you were lucky could mosh your way to the pit to get a closer view. At most shows only a risky few will chance getting carried around before security gets to them. This show had non stop people living their emo dreams. They knocked each others elbows and threw hands as they flailed about on top of shoulders. There was a sheer joy you could see on their faces from getting passed around.

Right after Hawthorn Heights walked on stage, lead singer JT Woodruff leans into the mic with a “What’s up New York City!” The cheering crowd reacted with screams and hands in the air. The vibe was as if the fans in have been waiting 20 years for this tour and to see their favorite band again. Those that haven’t seen them since.

The dress code was black and graphic. Extra points if your tee had skulls. There wasn’t an actual dress code but there may as well should’ve been with all the band merch and chains, boots and black eye liner in attendance.

The first song the band played was the ultimate fan favorite, This Is Who We Are. Then followed by this banger We Are So Last Year. They played all their hits and teased the crowd with finishing the set without playing Ohio Is For Lovers. You can imagine the excitement when their encore was in fact Ohio Is For Lovers.
