Vietnamese designer, Hanh Merriman, decided to brighten things up for her Spring/Summer 2020 collection. A change of direction compared to her past monochromatic collections.
Merriman incorporated subtle browns, blues, and soft hues of yellow for Spring/Summer 2020.
After a recent trip to the American Southwest, the designer became inspired by the array of warm colors. She spoke with The Knockturnal about her travels and the new line. “This collection is [from] my trip to [the] mountains and deserts in Arizona, Utah and California. It’s very desert-oasis. It’s inspired by the light, the rock formations, the warm color tones.”. The presentation was held at the Hemingway House in SoHo with a quaint crowd. I enjoyed the intimacy of the space, compared to a typical busy runway show. Guests were invited to view the models wearing the collection up close.
Taking a closer look, the viewer can see how each piece of fabric is meticulously sewn into another to show the contrast of the warm colors and light patterns. The collection debuts in 2020.
