Men’s fashion guide GQ and swimwear experts Orlebar Brown collaborated on a chic capsule of wares just in time for the summer, with a opening party at the Soho House in NYC on Thursday night.
Who are we to turn down a pool party? And with 80 degree weather in a sunny NYC, the stars, as it were, were aligning. When I texted my friend about joining me for a ‘swimwear launch’ he asked me pretty directly, “will models be wearing the swimsuit?”. At the time, I couldn’t say with certainty, but I had a feeling they’d turn out. Sure enough, as we reached the Soho House’s famed rooftop, Trevor Signorino, Shane Cureton, Louisa Warwick, Imena De Barros, and others were spotted lounging around, modeling the looks with total summer cool.
It’s not hard to imagine the Orlebar Brown and GQ collaboration happening- it felt less “should they?” and more “when will they?”. And it turned out in a perfect way. The suits pay homage to a significant voice in men’s fashion over the many years; the trunks are done up in repeating, offset GQ logos, in the most authentic way possible- the source material is pulled from the GQ archives. Since the trunks are by Orlebar Brown, they’ll be the softest, most flattering ones you’ll ever pull on. It’s a limited collaboration but a chic one without a doubt. Coming in blue, red, and a very Hermés Rallye-24.
