The R&B star is set to judge the new show alongside other dance superstars.
Ne-Yo, Jennifer Lopez and Derek Hough will be the judges of the newest dance competition set to premiere May 30 on NBC. In an interview with Viben on Films, he says World of Dance brings some of the best dancers around the globe to compete for a grand prize of one million dollars, calling it “the greatest dance competition ever known to man.”
Although Ne-Yo does not have a huge dance background, he feels that he does bring some sort of passion onto the show with him as a judge, “what I do know is performance and entertainment, and that’s what I look for when I’m judging contestants” he says. Ne-Yo recently sat down with Access Hollywood and called the show the “Olympics of Dance Competition Shows.” He talked about the dance world and how he wants dancers to get the compensation and recognition they deserve.
After being a guest judge on America’s Got Talent, a show that showcases many different talents, Ne-Yo is excited to add Judge to his resume. He believes the key to being a good judge is to be “fair, but stern.” You can watch Ne-Yo exhibit his judge skills once the show premieres later this month, in the meantime, watch the show’s trailer below.
