On Thursday, February 11th, Footaction No.1 Way Design Program held its presentation for Style360’s fashion week event. Partnering with FAAS and Pensole, Footaction revealed the five finalists for the No.1 Way Design Program.
Footaction No.1 Way Design Program is a competition based initiative open to recent graduates of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or HBCUs, to give designers the opportunity to get their designs seen on major platforms. Five finalists were selected to take a masterclass at the Pensole academy and present their designs during NYFW. The top five finalists, Briana Thomas, Chakierrah Stinson, Le’Nora Gray, Nachae Davis, and Sharonda Richardson all presented their designs at the Style360 fashion week event. In attendance was fashion influencer, Kahlana Barfield Brown who was also part of the judging panel.
Nachae Davis’s size-inclusive, trendy, and sustainable athleisure designs came in the first place. Nachae Davis of Clark Atlanta Unversity took home a 15,000 prize and will have her collection sold in Footaction stores and online this fall. Her unique design solutions include body control functionality in the pants and versatility/personalization of styles in the jackets which help mold to each women’s unique body type.
Runner ups for the Footaction No.1 Way Design were Chakierrah Stinson of Tuskegee University and Brianna Thomas of Dillard University.
