K-pop girl group FIFTY FIFTY is back with their third mini album Day & Night, delivering bubblegum charm and mellow maturity in a release full of duality.
You may know the group from their viral hit “Cupid,” but the five members—Keena, Chanelle, Yewon, Hana, and Athena—are ready to deliver six fresh tracks that pack just as much punch and addictive energy.
Marking the start of a new chapter, Day & Night reveals a more mature sound and refined visual identity. The six-track album moves from the adorable title track “Pookie” to the emotional depths of Keena’s self-penned ballad “Heartbreak,” making it a true feast for the ears.
Whether it’s day or night, there’s a song on this mini album for every feel.
Tracks like “ADONIS” bring that sweet, bubbly daytime energy with an addictive hook, while “Midnight Special” shifts to mellow, nighttime vibes—just as catchy, just as captivating.
Describing the concept, member Chanelle shares:
“The ‘Day’ represents the familiar, bubbly, easy-listening music. ‘Night’ brings out a more emotional, mature version of ourselves that we think our fans haven’t seen yet. It’s definitely an upgrade from what we’ve shown before, and we’re so excited to share it with the world.”
Stepping beyond their comfort zone, FIFTY FIFTY explores fear, courage, and self-discovery across the dual themes of Day and Night—each chapter unfolding naturally, revealing different shades of who they are.
Visually, the album’s concept is brought to life through the “Ironic Fantasy” music video, blending nostalgic whimsy with bold, chaotic elements—think fire, wind, and a giant ensemble cast that ties it all together.

THE KNOCKTURNAL: How would you all, as FIFTY FIFTY, personally describe the concept of this project?
Chanelle: This album marks our journey of growth as artists. It shows a different side of us — something that’s new for our fans. It still has a bit of familiarity, but we’ve added a more mature concept too. The idea of “day and night” plays a big role here.
THE KNOCKTURNAL: You mentioned that this concept has more of a mature side — we got a sense of that in “Perfect Crime” and the teaser trailers. The idea of “no longer being soft” really stood out to me. In your own words, what do you hope to express or accomplish through conquering both day and night in terms of music, message, visuals, and emotions?
YEWON: There’s a wide variety of songs and genres in this album, and it contains a broad range of emotions. It’s music you can put on repeat all day without getting sick of it.
THE KNOCKTURNAL: For sure! When I was going through the tracklist, each song really stood out in its own way. Speaking of “Perfect Crime,” in the trailers, you were tapping into a more visually mature, dramatic concept and even acting. What was it like exploring that side? Did you enjoy it?
Chanelle: Like you said, the trailer was something a little fun for everybody, and a little new. It was kind of a middle point in our journey — a little sneak peek of what we have. Personally, when we were doing this acting thing, it was my first time sort of in front of a camera acting that way, so I was a little bit nervous but also excited. We had a lot of fun.
I know we had a lot of cut scenes because we were so busy laughing and just having fun together. It was definitely a great experience. We were so excited to do it, and it was just so much fun.
THE KNOCKTURNAL: It was so fun for us to watch too. I also got to preview the music video for “Pookie.” It feeds into what you’ve called an ironic fantasy or illusion — nostalgic, campy, and super charming with a big ensemble. Let’s talk about that MV. What was it like filming it? Any standout memories?
ATHENA: Like you said, the trailer was something a little fun for everybody, and a little new.
Chanelle: And like in the “Pookie” music video — you spoke about the ironic fantasy — something we did not expect: on the last day, at first we were just filming cute and fun scenes, and then all of a sudden, near the end, there was fire, a bunch of wind… we were like, “Is this right?” It was so much fun and then all of a sudden, that’s a bit of a spoiler, but there was this whole unexpected set that was prepared for us. So that was really exciting, and I think that really speaks into the ironic, campy nature of the song.
THE KNOCKTURNAL: It definitely gives both day and night! Let’s talk more about “Pookie” — it’s so playful and catchy. What inspired you to use the word “pookie”? Was it always the plan?
HANA: Honestly, I think it was the perfect word. It was the only word — we were very happy with it. It’s cute. It has this little quirky vibe — calling someone your Pookie. It feels special.
There’s a lot of cuteness involved, and just to say you’re reaching for each other — Pookie is an expression that only that word could express.
THE KNOCKTURNAL: Shifting back to the mini-album, “ADONIS” had such a bubbly, danceable sound. I was grooving immediately. Then “Work of Art” comes in and closes the ‘Day’ section with a more vocal-driven focus. Do you each have a favorite track on the album? Any behind-the-scenes stories?
YEWON: My personal favorite was “Work of Art.” It’s my first time opening the track and singing the first verse, which is very special. It was a great learning experience for me, and I matured as an artist and vocalist. So as a team, it’s a track that we’re all very proud of.
THE KNOCKTURNAL: It was absolutely a work of art. I also want to touch on “Heartbreak.” It stood out to me for its emotional depth, its relatability. When creating more emotional tracks like that, what inspires you? How do you channel those feelings into the music?
KEENA: So glad you brought up “Heartbreak” — it’s a personal favorite. When we first listened to the demo, we thought a lot about how to bring out the emotions and how we could deliver that through our voices. Our first step was to listen on repeat and focus on the emotional layers.
There was a lot of group discussion involved in how we could bring this out together. As a result, it’s the track that best represents our emotional depth and how we express that through our musical abilities.
THE KNOCKTURNAL: Since the mini-album is called Day & Night concept, do you personally feel more connected to day or night? This can be literal or more of a vibe.
YEWON: I prefer daytime, because I like morning freshness and the morning breeze. My routine in the morning is to drink a cup of coffee, which helps me look forward to the day! Day for me.
THE KNOCKTURNAL: That’s so sweet! As a final message for this work of art, is there anything you’d like to say to fans listening in?
KEENA: We’re coming back with six new tracks. Each one has different emotions, and they span different genres. Please pay special attention to the emotional storyline that’s involved. We have many exciting things and activities in store for our Twenties, so please stay tuned and look forward to them!
