This season for New York Fashion Week The Shows, The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) present a combined runway presentation from three leading Hong Kong designers Harrison Wong, Hidy Ng, and Loom Loop.
The runway show showcased menswear as well as womenswear in displaying the city’s style influence. Harrison Wong’s menswear collection, inspired from minimalism and nature, took on a strong and fashion forward approach to the masculine. Monochromatic looks came off as the most impressive with the mix of patterns on textured fabrics in unusual silhouettes.
Hidy Ng’s “Unruly Luxuriance” and Loom Loop’s “Androgynous” elevated modern femininity from ethnic culture. Hidy’s collection featured luxurious layers of ruffles and irregular hems coupled with vintage jewelry from the inspired idea of “an independent and elegant lady who enjoys inventing herself through her wardrobe.” The final collection, “Androgynous,” integrated strong structured masculine tailoring with feminine prints of burgundy and dark forest colors, giving off a eclectic yet edgy aesthetic.
