We recently got the chance to talk to Perry Mattfeld, who stars as Murphy on the CW show, ‘In The Dark‘.
You may recognize Mattfeld from her arc on the show Shameless. ‘In The Dark’ showcases Mattfeld in a way we haven’t seen her before. Her character is a sarcastic, messy, and vulnerable woman who finds herself in the height of solving a murder after she finds her friend, Tyson, dead in an alley. She is an antihero – who is unapologetic, sexually liberated, and arguably an alcoholic. Moreover, Murphy is visually impaired.
Murphy lost her sight when she was younger, however, the story is not defined by her blindness and does not center around it as well. It’s a very dark, gracefully modern series. The first season, involves her trying to find out who murdered her friend – by the end of the season and leading into season 2 there is a pretty dark twist. Season 2 episodes are currently streaming weekly on the CW app.
