‘Titanique The Musical’ celebrated its upcoming opening night with a press launch at The Frying Pan in New York City on June 7.
Titanique The Musical is a hilarious retelling of Titanic from the perspective of Céline Dion. Complete with Céline Dion’s music, the inventive and fun musical stars Marla Mindelle as Céline, Constantine Rousouli as Jack, Frankie Grande as Victor Garber, Kathy Deitch as Molly Brown, Ryan Duncan as Ruth, Alex Ellis as Rose, John Riddle as Cal, Jaye Alexander as The Iceberg, and Courtney Bassett, Donnie Hammond and Dimitri Moise.
Co-created by Tye Blue, Rousouli, and Mindelle, the musical is 90 minutes of fun and is the perfect entertainment escape.
“You’ve got to make people laugh,” Blue said of his inspiration to begin working on Titanique five years ago. “You’ve got to make yourself laugh. If you’re feeling like this, you’ve got to get back out there and make sure people are laughing and feeling better about being a human being on this planet. So Constantine and Marla and I started writing.”
“I left the concert presentation of Titanique in Los Angeles in 2018 and said ‘I have to produce this, I must produce this,'” Producer Eva Price shared.
Now, after a long road of delays due to the pandemic and theater shutdowns, Titanique is ready to set sail. Titanique The Musical opens June 23 at The Asylum Theatre and performances will run through September.
The Knockturnal got the chance to chat with some of the cast and creative team of Titanique.
