Old Spice has launched a sequel to its hilariously relatable award-winning campaign, Men Have Skin Too and this time they kicked it up a notch adding the legendary, Patti LaBelle.
LaBelle will be featured as Deon Cole’s (Black-ish, Grown-ish) mother-in-law and is joined by returning star, Gabrielle Dennis (A Black Lady Sketch show). The popular campaign takes a peek into the highly relatable tensions between couples and extended family as LaBelle’s character steals his favorite Old Spice Fresher Collection. The collection features a line of anti-perspirant/deodorants, lotions and body washes with skincare benefits created with real ingredients. LaBelle makes the perfect addition to the campaign balancing out the comedic commercials with humor and sass.

Men beware, not only are women notorious for stealing your favorite hoodie, the last bite of food on your plate or all the covers at night, but now they just might start stealing your hygiene products as well. The Old Spice ‘Men Have Skin Too’ campaign highlights the fact that men need pampering too, but women aren’t letting them have all the fun, “the moisturizer with shea butter man gel is phenomenal. I’ve been using it and I’m a lady, not a man,” says LaBelle. The products are so amazing that even significant others, including your mother-in-law are stealing them for themselves. However, the iconic LaBelle is not new to the allure of Old Spice products. In an exclusive interview with The Knockturnal LaBelle explains how all the men in her family have been using Old Spice since she could remember.

After a long and inspiring career, LaBelle shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. In addition to her new role in the Old Spice campaign, LaBelle will be back on the road touring this September. True fans were able to catch a free concert with her in 2020 thanks to Timbaland and Swizz Beatz’s, Verzuz. LaBelle performed alongside friend and legend in her own right, Gladys Knight for a night of celebration and positivity. “OGs don’t battle, we just sing – yeah that was fun,” LaBelle said. And the singer is no stranger to fun, the artist explains how she kept herself entertained during the pandemic sharing how she loves to prank her friends. “I feel good when I trick someone. I didn’t even do it on April Fools, I did it on other days so they really didn’t expect it,” LaBelle joked. She is 77 years young, fully vaxxed, and ready to take on life head-on post-pandemic. What’s her key to looking great and remaining positively energized? “My secret is waking up every morning and thanking God for another day,” and quite possibly stealing all the Old Spice products for men might just be the icing on the top.
