Exclusive: Meet YFN Lucci’s Artist & Epic Signee FredRarrii

“When you hood, you good” says FredRarrii, amongst other things that solidify him as Miami’s next up.

Fredrarrii has always had his finger on the pulse of Miami’s music scene, providing his local area, Liberty Square, Miami, better known as “Pork & Beans” with a musical sanctuary they could escape to when “the streets got hot.” Not accustomed to being in the spotlight, FredRarri spent many years behind the scenes helping his brothers with their musical pursuits by giving the hood a studio, “a chill spot to keep people off the streets.” Over time his musical interests and endeavors led to relationships with legends like Cam’ron and led him to his current position today as one of YFN Lucci’s artists and recent Epic Records signee. After years of helping put others on and supporting his kin, FredRarri is finally focusing on himself with his debut project Perfect Timing, featuring Yungeen Ace, DaBaby, Moneybaggyo and many more, with even more bonus content on the way. Check out what FredRarri had to say about his journey and what’s in store for the future.

The Knockturnal: Let’s start from the beginning. When was the first time you thought about seriously pursuing music?

FredRarrii: When I saw the city get behind me when I dropped my first song, “Ain’t Worried” and I seen how everybody gravitate towards it. I seen the kids making a video to it. I think watching all the young kids make videos to my song and watching it go up that’s when I think I started getting the love or the passion for the music.

The Knockturnal: Let’s go even further back, can you talk about the first time you ever freestyle or sang a song?

FredRarrii: I actually never wanted to be a rapper, I used to play sports. After being around (YFN) Lucci for a little bit, I was like alright I need to try this.

The Knockturnal: Was Lucci your peoples before you flirted with the idea of music?

FredRarrii: Yeah I started rapping about two years into knowing Lucci.

The Knockturnal: Would you say Lucci kind of encouraged that?

FredRarrii:: Hell yeah.

The Knockturnal: Is your family supportive of your musical endeavors?

FredRarrii: They’re very supportive.

The Knockturnal: Who are some of your musical inspirations? Who has influenced your sound a little bit?

Fredrarrii: Luch, Gotti, listening to different artists.

The Knockturnal: How did you and Lucci linked up?

FredRarrii: Somebody called me and said he wanted to pull up to the projects to Pork & Beans (Liberty Square, Miami), you know where I’m from it’s the heart of it, the first 48, Dade County, we don’t really have nobody come over there or show love because of the history. Lucci was one of the ones that decided he still wanted to come over and show love when he came we met and had a bond since then.

The Knockturnal: When you first him did you imagine what it would all lead to?

FredRarrii: I ain’t imagine rapping and all this, but I did imagine him reaching out to me because the vibe was right.

The Knockturnal: What’s the biggest change you’ve seen since getting signed?

FredRarrii: I’ve been signed a little over year, it’s just a blessing. I’m so grateful, but it hasn’t hit me yet. They just put a billboard up in Miami and that kind of really hit me.

The Knockturnal: How’d your family react to the billboard?

FredRarrii: They were talking about how I’m a celebrity.

The Knockturnal: What’s something that’s happened that you never expected?

Fredrarrii: Meeting Sylvia Rhone.

The Knockturnal: So you were hip to the business side of the industry beforehand?

FredRarrii: Always been hip to the music. Once upon a time, me and Cam’ron was close, every time he’d come to Miami we used to kick it.

The Knockturnal: Why is that?

FredRarrii: I don’t know it’s so crazy how I’ve always been around the music, my blessings been right there. It just took me a long time- I had a studio, but I was never goin up there I was just supporting my brothers. It was a chill spot to keep people off the streets, everyone come to the studio to chill and they like bro you supporting everybody and doing all this you need go up there.

The Knockturnal: Transitioning back to present day, what was the most challenging and rewarding part of making your debut project, Perfect Timing?

FredRarrii: Most challenging part was getting clearances and the best part about it was being welcomed at Epic.

The Knockturnal: What was it like shooting the “Hellcat” video with Moneybagg Yo? The video itself looked like a lot of fun.

FredRarrii: We went through a lot with “Hellcat,” tryna get me and Moneybagg’s and the Director’s schedules to align. At the end of the day it was worth it and a lot of fun shooting it. Moneybagg was vibing, his energy was good he wasn’t tryna rush off, it was genuine.

The Knockturnal: You’ve got a lot of amazing features on the project, DaBaby, and Yungeen Ace to name a few.

FredRarrii: Yungeen Ace and 9lokknine on “Line em up,” I had to do a Florida record, I’m very big on supporting the city. We got a record called “Soul Snatcher” that’s gonna be on the bonus track featuring Lucci.

The Knockturnal: Did all the features happen organically or were any of the intros made through the label?

FredRarri: All the features happened organically with me just reaching out, but the label did the most important part, they stamped it and gave their approval behind it. I just reached out though Instagram, you know what they say, “When you hood you good.”

The Knockturnal: Can we expect any more visuals from the project?

FredRarri: “Line em up” visual coming soon, “Soul Snatcher,” featuring YFN Lucci, visual coming soon and “Perfect Timing” coming soon and in three weeks I’m dropping 3 more bonus tracks.
