An artist to keep an eye on, Maneuver G has partnered with the app everyone has been buzzing about, droppTV (@dropptv), the “shoppable Netflix” for hip hop-loving hypebeasts.
He is releasing two new shoppable music videos exclusively on the app, one for his single “Defense” featuring LosoBlixky out now and a remix of this song by J-Starr the Prince launching tomorrow at 12 PM EST. What stands out about these videos is that you can shop unbelievable Black Friday deals within the videos in real-time with the click of a button due to droppTV’s proprietary AI technology.
Within the original “Defense” video you can cop limited edition “Anthracite” Nike Air Foamposite Ones for just $190, for savings of $140 off the resale price. We caught up with Maneuver G to talk about this epic droppTV partnership and more, so check it out!
The Knockturnal: Why did you decide to partner with droppTV on this music video launch?
Maneuver G: I was introduced to droppTV by my boy GP (GPBeatBangerz). He then introduced me to Gurps Rai, its CEO (THE MAN!). We sat down, had a little talk, and sh*t went up from there! droppTV felt like a great opportunity to help myself grow as an up-and-coming rapper and everyone affiliated with the video launch with droppTV was open to my ideas and thoughts throughout the whole video process.
The Knockturnal: Is this your first merchandise launch?
Maneuver G: Yeah this is definitely my first merchandise release but it for sure isn’t my last. We’re just getting started and we are also working on some limited edition merch that’s definitely coming soon.
The Knockturnal: Who produced and wrote the single?
Maneuver G: The producer of the beat for “Defense” is GBACyrus. He’s different! Crazy how we linked. He just one day randomly hit me up on IG; mind you we don’t even follow each other yet. I was like, “Where can I send beats? Let’s work!” We definitely got more work coming together – we’re locked in! And me and my guy Loso wrote the single. Crazy cause we busted it out in an hour! Dead wrote all that in the stu!
The Knockturnal: Who directed the video?
Maneuver G: So, you know we got the “Defense” ft LosoBlixky video, which is the original song, which was shot by my guy CreasyVisuals; I met him out here in Orlando through a mutual friend, actually my guy 9in0, for our “All That Gangtsa” video that Creasy had shot – that’s where I actually met Creasy. And you know we got that “Defense Remix” ft LosoBlixky and J -Starr The Prince! And for the remix video we had my guy 5th Ave shoot that one. I met him through droppTV. My guy was mad cool and official! Had him outside in the hood – both my guys did their thing on both the original and remix video! Shout out my guys Creasy and 5th Ave!
The Knockturnal: What is the premise and inspiration behind the video and its visuals?
Maneuver G: So originally for the original video I wanted to reenact a scene from Menace II Society – the part when they got back for Harold at the checkers spot. I wanted to do some movie like sh*t. But you know there were some changes of plans and all so we just took it back to the hood and still made it a movie the Brooklyn way.
The Knockturnal: Where was the video shot/different locations of the video?
Maneuver G: The original video was shot in Brooklyn in Red Hook I believe. We caught some fire scenes over there for the original video. For the remix video I took it back to my hood, brought my guy J-Starr outside with the gangstas. But we were in the hood, “the trenches” some would say. South Side, Brooklyn Williamsburg.
The Knockturnal: What is the meaning behind the title of the song/video?
Maneuver G: It’s as simple as it reads. DEFENSE! Don’t run up and don’t think sh*t is sweet over here. We’re always playing on defense. Some key lyrics are: ”B**ch yeah we playing defense, posted with sharks don’t get caught in the deep end” like I said before DON’T RUN UP!
The Knockturnal: What’s up next for you?
Maneuver G: I’m working on 2 EP’s and Defense is definitely going to be on one of them, but I’m not gonna get too deep into it. I definitely got some sh*t coming so definitely stay tuned for those EPs and some more heat.
